http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/112749439.html All 650 or so law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin are beginning an effort to determine whether deputies and officers are stopping drivers on the basis of race. <snip> "It just seems a little bit haphazard, how the whole thing has been thrown together," Meyer said. Officers must collect the age, zip code, gender and ethnicity of the driver and passengers. They also must collect the reason and outcome of the stop, and if and why a search was conducted, among other things. Gov. Jim Doyle signed the law in 2009 and it went into effect Saturday. Wisconsin has struggled for years with a higher-than-average percentage of minorities in prison. A commission studying the issue reported in 2008 that black people make up only 6% of Wisconsin's population, yet they comprise 43% of its prison population. ![]() ![]() 46 questions? What a waste of time and resources!!I really don't have anything new to say here –– we'll just echo two comments from the Urinal: wakolman - Jan 01, 2011 1:07 PM The only thing that needs to be recorded is the reason they were pulled over. After that, it doesn't matter what color you are. aghcurt - Jan 01, 2011 1:26 PM THE COLD HARD TRUTH, THAT WHITE LIBERALS DON'T WANT TO HEAR, BUT EASILY EXPLAINS ALL OF THIS IS......THAT THOSE SAME 6% OF MINORITIES IN WISCONSIN COMMIT 43% OF THE CRIMES IN WISCONSIN!!!! THE SILLY IDEA THAT SOMEHOW THE RACIAL PROPORTIONS IS PRISON SHOULD MATCH RACIAL PROPORTIONS IN THE GENEREAL POPULATION IS A LIBERAL UTOPIAN FANTASY, BUT IT IS NOT REALITY. |

The process exists because it was a bargaining chip (Milwaukee based reps) so they could all agree and initiate the new DUI issues that were passed this past year.
Hijack: My asspain is that now your middle name must be fully written on your driver's license. WTF is that from, the US govt's demands, regulations, DHs, etc? What other things were passed we will see this year without knowing. V OUT |

so if your a passenger you must comply? and im talking a famliy night out with a fail to signal stop..
I thought just your name was all you had to give... or identification papers if you had them on you...time to carry a zippered locked bank bag for my ID and you need a warrent to enter it.... but i supose it will be obstruction if you dont comply . I pleadge allegance to the flag of this mess we call America.. J.P. |

Sorry but I think we are obligated to fill out a racial profiling report on your use of that phrase. Analysis of the particular voice inflection used between "didn't" and "di'int" makes up 14 of the 46 questions. That whole form is a cluster, but you should have seen the early drafts. My God, you'd spend your whole shift filling out the report for one lousy traffic warning. |

It is a report the officer does, not something the occupants/driver completes. V OUT So they assume what race you are. Cause last I checked, a WI DL does not have race info. Lotta good this is going to do. ![]() That is correct. It would be "wrong" to ask. V OUT |

That is a disparity. I would think they would want to first check what the people did to land themselves in jail. Last I looked being black wasn't a crime.
I would also think law enforcement and security without profiling are not efficient. Criminals have target indicators just like terrorists, and a trained professional is the best resource with which to notice them. That's part of why we have professionals doing law enforcement and not a random citizens doing a monthly shift. Give a liberal ample time and they will tear the guts out of society and stand the country on its head while it starves to death. They believe in change for the sake of change, I believe in change for the sake of improvement. |

[Who do I call if I want to ax a question about the new policy? Here is the OJA page with copies of the forms, video training, etc. If you want to know how your local agency is handling this, I'd call them. |
