I have a love/hate relationship with Wisconsin. Most of the winter, from November to April, I hate life. I do, however, take great joy in being prepared to deal with snow and winter weather when it hits us the hardest. I have snow tires and an AWD car. Our family owns snow tires for all our vehicles. We have insulated and prepped the house to deal with massive snowfalls and possible power outages. I know not everyone can do so for their home, but a $300-400 set of snow tires for your vehicle is one of the best investments that you can make if you live here. In a previous life when I only owned a small FWD car, I had snow tires. I laughed at all the people in their big trucks sliding out into intersections and into ditches. People know that it will snow every year. And yet when they buy a new $40,000 truck or car, they refuse to spend the extra money on a set of dedicated snow tires. Cheap insurance for 5 months of driving, most of which will have snow on the ground. So while I am not happy about leaving my motorcycle in storage to depreciate without being used, i absolutely love it when we get pounded with 4-10" of snow and everything stops. I keep driving wherever I need to go. I'm also glad I no longer drive a tow truck and have to winch people out of the ditch who have bald all-seasons. */RANT* Enjoy your winter everyone! |

*RANT* */RANT* Enjoy your winter everyone! I've never had a problem with regular tires in winter. Don't drive like an A-hole, and you'll be fine. Did I mention that I spent 5 years in North Dakota? Now that's winter. And I never had snow tires there either. :-P My suburban just chugs right through it. |
