Unless i misunderstood your question. When I order something my ffl calls tells me its in and by the time I get there he already has the paperwork done. We chat for a few, I give him $20 for the transfer, sign my name on the dotted line and I'm on my way. |

I had one long delay, took a couple of hours. IIRC after 48 hours with no call back they can release the gun to you but company policy may be different. I used to get a slight delay every time I did a 4473, I stopped putting in my SS# and now no delay. I have a extremely unique name.
Don't sweat the delay, sweat a deny. |

Quoted: I'm the same way. For who knows what reason. If I go to Gander in Wausau I will be delayed for days, madison, about 15 minutes. Other shops right away. I've no clue as to why. But every time I stop in Wausau I know I will not walk out with a gun. Frustrating. Last time I tried there I just walked out. Three days later I get a call saying it's all good!! Too late, bought it's twin at Petes shop!TommyTrauma gets delayed every single time he does a transfer (at least as far as I know). I believe the longest he has been delayed is a couple of days with most times being a hour or two. I would start to worry when things happen, like a denial. |

I've never been delayed on long guns having done both SSN and no SSN that I can recall. There were a few people (OK, really a certain person) I just didn't see leaving my SSN sitting around at their place if you catch my drift. That said I do have delays with the WI folks for handguns (at least a few times anyway). One of these times the person on the phone told the FFL there was another person with my same name (including middle –– odd) with felonies –– the DOB wasn't the same but within a month or what not. My name is fairly unique. Whatever. It has been minutes and been hours. Always good to go shortly thereafter. Interestingly, it was a take a Gander at the Mountainous prices that didn't have any issue during a Ruger LCP (only because it was on sale AND I had some gift cards to spend - ha ha). Having done background checks, FBI fingerprints, airport security badges and what not, I never have had any issues except for the damn Jim Diamond Doyle ravaged department State of Wisconsin folks. Price goes up and service goes down –– surprise, surprise, surprise. ![]() What pisses me off is there is no known procedure to "fix" this (for the WI folks anyway). It is embarrassing when there are other people around. |

I get one because my SCI clearance is still active (even though I am retired from active duty). It is usually a 5 hour or less wait.
Hell, my next door neighbor has the same name as his old man who was a hell raiser and always has a wait. As for the SS#, I won't leave it because I had a ID theft. One friend's store was burglarized and it was on the 4473 in NV when it was "stolen" Concern yourself only if it is a denial. V OUT |

We chat for a few, I give him $20 for the transfer, sign my name on the dotted line and I'm on my way. Which is not proper. You must first fill out and sign the 4473. You must present a government issued ID with your current residence address on it. Then the FFL calls you in. IF you are approved, the transfer may proceed. If you are delayed, the FFL must wait to transfer the firearm to you. This could be hours or days. It is up to the FFL's discretion unless regulated by State law to transfer the firearm to you in 3 business days if NICS does not give a proceed by then. |
