Can anyone tell me why there seems to be no more 93 octane premium fuel anymore? They seem to have changed everything to 91 octain and kept it the same price. Did they think we wouldn't notice this? I started seeing the change a few months ago.
Any ideas? |
| I haven't noticed, and it's all my Mustang can burn, so it better not be going away! Just filled up today, and 93 was available? Lots of performance cars (stock, and not so stock) that still run pump gas can only run 93, so I don't think they could get away with it. |

factory performance cars specify 91 or better, I've never seen one require 93. There are a few states (many?) that have 91 at best. If an OEM specified 93, there would be a lot of states where they couldn't sell that car.
My Jeep requires 89 and my 'other' car requires 91 or better. I'm hoping 93 doesn't go away. |

I thought the Corvette and Viper required 93, but not sure. My truck for some reason can't run on regular, despite what the manual says. I can run 89 but it pings bad when under a load up a hill if the tranny does not down shift. I really just figured I would use 93 a while back as it caused no detonation or anything. Then they change it and I am paying the same price. |
