| The Caywood shooting range is just north of Minocqua. I shoot there relatively frequently, nice little 100 yard range, totally informal. Most of the people i've run in to there are pretty good. There's also the Boulder Junction range north on M a ways, but haven't shot there before. |

Caywood is nice, but Boulder Junction is bigger. Caywood is right on 51, on the east side of the highway, just north of the concrete plant / gravel pits, a few miles north of 51/70east traffic lights. You can't miss it.
Boulder Junction range is off of M on Escanaba Lk Rd. Take 51 north to M, go north on M, and the 3rd "named" road on the right (east) after you cross the Hwy N intersection is Escanaba Lk Rd (1st road is Big Muskellunge Lk, 2nd road is Allequash Lk, 3rd is Escanaba). Turn right on Escanaba and go in about 1/2 mile to the range. |
I know of a couple in the Cheguamagon Forest National Park right off of Hwy 70,west of Minaqua about 20 miles.One is about 200 yds. too bad it has a left handed bench.I always go when I am up there,only seen one other person all the times I have been there.Get a National forest map and look for the gravel pit/mine logo,chances are its a range.Lots a Wolf shells on the ground along with 22 lr. Good times..........
