The news footage showed standard mortar style fireworks.
Peplinski says his hobby is making fireworks. Police say that may be the case, but what he had in his possession is still illegal......Regardless, police say it's a violation to have those kinds of materials without a permit or a license...."Hobby or not, it's illegal and it’s an extremely dangerous situation. He not only put himself at risk, he put other people at risk,” said Pulaski Police Chief Randal Dunford....When authorities went in to search, they say the found eight explosives and around 300 pounds of raw chemicals used to make them.
Peplinski is facing a felony charge of possessing improvised explosives. He was released from jail Monday and is scheduled to be back in court next month. http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/news/friends-show-support-for-peplinski |

On a somewhat related note, did you know it's a felony to make, possess or use molotov cocktails? I dealt with a 19 year old kid who found that out the hard way, x3. It's probably a good thing there is no LEO or ATF agents at my buddy's annual bonfire - that's how he lights it. |
| This isn't the first time they went after someone for being a fireworks hobbiest in the area and charged them with "explosives" violations. I am overly conservative when it comes to fireworks. I don't even light off commercial firecrackers in the neighborhood because I don't want to put my Hazmat endorsement at risk... |
