| The weather got me thinking. Will we be having a frozen nuts shoot this year? |

how do you guys pick up your brass? Wait till spring? I don't know how they do it at the FNS, but it's 50/50 with me. Sometimes i pick it up, other times i say screw it. I usually say screw it. Shooting an MG in winter makes picking up brass a pain in the ass. |

Quoted: None that I know of. Bullseye organized one last year. I have not seen hi post anything on topic yet. SO i figured I would get the folks here somewhat interested in this event. P.S II am horrible at organizing people. I'm up for a shoot in January. I organized a spring shoot at Yellowstone earlier this year. I believe VAPORTRAIL was the guy who set up the last FNS. Available dates for me would be January 23rd or 30th (or maybe even sometime in February?). We've scheduled it for the last Saturday in January for the past two years- it was held on the 31st last year, and the 26th the year before that. Three years ago I believe they scheduled it for late February but it got called off due to a snow storm. If you guys want to have it earlier, I'll sit this one out (I won't be in the area on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th- visiting family in Virginia). I believe we normally just set up a poll to decide the date- that makes it easy to see what works best for everyone. ETA: Technically, I think I could make Jan 2nd work out if that's what everyone wanted. |

Posted a poll to help decide the date here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=21&t=389110 I included some info in that thread for those of you who are new to the shoot as well. |

Quoted: Hey Bullseye, Do you still have the videos from the last FNS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7fVUVXv4ns http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15GIeG-zg_U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMNg5wfIPXo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHY_39r09Sg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6VP7TbyQUE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3MB1DW1Xkg |

Is this still being considered??
I am currently getting ready to leave Iraq with the Wisconsin Guard unit here. I ran a big 3 gun competition over here and would love to come home and shoot if you guys are doing anything like this. The 30th would work best with me. I know I could bring some guys from my unit with me. |

OTOH, my son really wants to shoot a machine gun. :D What next of the woods are ya in? I've got an M10/45 and an AC556 (.22LR conversion available). If he's going to miss the pinewood derby just to shoot a MG, I'd be more than happy to set up a range session. I remember the pinewood derby when I was a kid. It was a hoot. So... in true arfcom fashion... DO BOTH! |

There seems to be a pretty clear consensus, I think we should call it for January 30th. (poll results) http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=21&t=389110 You're in the Stevens Point area now NAM? What are you doing there? I spend most of my time at school at UW-Platteville, but I'm home on break in the Wausau area. Not as many arfcommers up in this neck of the woods.. |

Not as many arfcommers up in this neck of the woods.. Bought a farmette near Almond. Got hired at an IT company in Madison. I hate Madison. Luckily, they let me transfer to point. So far so good. I love not living in the city, away from all the crap, and people. And no more .mil to rain on my parade. It was fun, but my dream turned into my nightmare. I get up to Sam's Club in Wausau about every 2 weeks. Slowly working up the stockpile. |

Quoted: I just read on another forum how somebody packed down all of the snow around him while shooting. Said he found every piece of brass.Quoted: how do you guys pick up your brass? The hot brass likes to melt into the snow, so when you pick up the brass it has a nice chunk of snow/ice frozen onto it (ask me how I know ).A heavy canvas tarp would probably work best...the plastic ones tend to blow around a lot (unless you weigh it down, which would work...). |

I'll probably be out there at 10 or 10:30 this morning. It's going to be a cold one, so it might be a shorter stay than other years, but it should still be fun. I do have at bare minimum a small charcoal grill lined up, so if you want to do lunch out there you can bring some hotdogs/brats/hamburgers if you so desire. |
