Being Independence Day, my wife and I decided to participate in the local Freedom March.  This was primarily an Open Carry stroll through part of downtown Manitowoc, but there were some TEA Party'ers mingled in.  I was surprised at the number of people; young, old, men and women that participated!  Channel 26 out of Green Bay was there filming and interviewing participants throughout the course of the walk.  Don't mind the crappy cell phone pics!

^ Checking fit and finish before the Freedom March.  Hmmm, seems MY fit could use some finish!

^ Getting ready to start walking

^ Heading north on 8th St.  We took up nearly the whole block!

^ Crossing the 10th St. bridge and turning back onto Quay St. and heading back to the starting point!

Nice way to kick off the 4th of July.  A pleasant 1 mile stroll through downtown carrying your pistol of choice!

Oops.... Hopefully, that holster was empty...
I can't believe that I missed the fact that this march was going to happen.   I would have headed over......

I don't know about in that picture but in another picture on another web-site it showed him having a gun in the holster while standing in the bed of his truck.  I thought the same thing when I saw it also.

Sure would suck to be doing something positive and legal like an open carry march and then get pinched for a violation like that.......   Hopefully that is one of the statutes we can get overturned...

The individual on the pick-up bed was one of the primary organizers.  He was also (I believe) on WOMT talking about it on Friday morning.  I wouldn't have known anything about it either, except my wife happened to read something about it in Bob Shuh's(sp?) Hunting/Fishing/Outdoors column in the Lakeshore Chronicle.

I saw that video on Saturday night.  I had to laugh, watching the camera man running up and down the street filming, I thought he was going to get run over a couple times!

Honestly, it was kind of a last minute thing for us, too.  We didn't think that there would be much participation but my wife wanted to go and observe - primarily to see what kind of media fall-out would result.  I told her I wasn't interested in just going to observe (as I didn't have a holster), if I was going, I would participate!  Well, my wife made me get a holster,
and she was going to shadow the group as we walked.  When we got to the starting point and she saw the number of people (especially the women) there, she decided to walk with us!
