Ok...I currently live in Seymour but will be moving to Appleton at the end of the summer. I was wondering if I have a any chance in hell of getting the required CLEO signature needed for a suppresor, SBR, etc. Just curious if anyone here lives in the area and has any knowledge about whether or not I would be able to get the signature.

Also, if I eon't be able to get the signature what are my other options?

Thanks,
Ryan

Other option would be a Revocable Living Trust.  So much easier than doing the fingerprints/picture/CLEO signature route.  Make a trust with Willmaker, fill out your Form 4/1, send documents of both in, get approved.

Appleton CLEO said he'd do a felony traffic stop on any CCW holder if it ever got it passed, so no, no chance on a signoff.  Make a trust.

What exactly is a trust? Can I go one with just myself? Anything special I need to know to set one up or someone in the area to talk to about it? Appreciate the help so far!

Go to the class 3 section in the armory and start reading all of the tacked topics on this subject. Then when you have questions again you will have a pretty good idea of what people are talking about when they answer you.I would suggest reading as much as you can on the subject.Basically read until you feel you understand how everything works.

for the CCW deal

Ok...I've been reading a bit on the whole trust issue and just wondering what is the rough cost to set one up assuming I go through a lawyer to do it.

Just noticed this link...awesome! That helps alot!

Those of you that have setup a trust- does the quicken willmaker work good or would you recommend having an attorney do it? Just curious.

If your CLEO will not sign it go to your county sheriff. If he won’t go to the State Patrol, the law says he has to sign and you can sue him if he doesn’t. when presented with this info I have never had a CLEO say no.

Buy Willmaker

Make a trust

Sign it

Notarize it

Mail it with funds

Get it back in three weeks and pick up your NFA

Other ways are just a pain
I was weary to try it, but once done, no other way will suffice

Interesting. Got a cite? Haven't heard this before.

I wouldn't threaten my CLEO with a lawsuit over not signing...
I'd like to see the statute that states he HAS to sign off.

Good luck with that, especially up in Douglas county.

I'd also like to see a cite for a mandatory sign-off.  I don't believe that's accurate.  (Feel free to prove me wrong.)

CLEO's don't have to sign.  This has been litigated and upheld.

If you are still curious you might want to visit Bardwells NFA law site.

Glenn, I believe you're correct they do not need to sign off.

Also, I don't believe the WSP can sign off on a form, though the DA can.

If WSP means WI State Patrol, then I wouldn't bother, they turned me down too a few years ago.  Skip the BS and form a trust.  I haven't yet, but I heard it's pretty easy to do.
