I have a 19 year old son who's heavily into Roman renactments. He got a call from a friend that said his uncle had died and had found a Roman gladius (sword) and armor in his belongings and would like to give them to my son. He gets home yesterday and to my surprise the armor was made from a American Armor IIIA vest. Even the leather straps that normally hang down from Roman armor (see the movie Gladiator for reference) where made from heavy Kevlar fabric. I'll post pics later tonight but I'll be pimp'n in my new vest at the next outing. Look out Flame!

I wish I knew what this uncle was thinking when he was putting this together.

Probably knew that kevlar was cut resistant?
Maybe intended for actual "mock" combat????

Lets see the pics!

Strange, huh? The bottom strips are leather applied to strips cut from a splitterschutzweste (German Flak Jacket).

Wow, was he planning something dark...

Dressing as a Roman, wearing level IIIA protection?
I didn't see any guns in 300?
