Hello everyone. I have been "lurking" around the site for quite some time now and finally decided to join. I might be relocating to Milwaukee from Rochester NY for work. I was wondering about WI’s carry laws. Right now I am “allowed” to carry concealed almost anywhere except bars, schools and federal buildings. Also, I can only have a 10 round mag. How hard is it to get a WI carry permit? Can I carry concealed? What about mag. restrictions? Can I have my handgun in my truck with me? Can I carry in Milwaukee itself? I know in some cities you can’t. I also plan on bringing my AR with me. It’s just a basic AR; 30 round mags, no bayonet lug, collapsible stock, and permanent flash suppressor. What do I need to do to make this WI compatible? Thanks. Carl |

Short answers. No carry permit unless you are a politician or LE. (The rest of us idiot taxpayers are SOL and always will be in this state. Just my opinion so sorry if I offended any cheeseheads) (Now if Wisconsin were to ban drinking and poker runs, that would get the sheeple moving....) Your AR will be fine. Thanks guys. And I thought NYS was bad. How do you guys survive without a gun?! Almost anywhere I go I am carrying. Its second nature now...I almost feel naked without it! How is the crime in and around Milwaukee? Also, I know there are better forums to ask these next questions, but they all will play a factor in the decission process: 1. How's the duck hunting? A lot of public land to hunt on? 2. How's the deer hunting? 3. Snowmobiling? Thanks again! Carl |
Like others stated, no Concealed Carry but unlike IL pretty much everything else flies. Crime in Milwaukee is at a higher % in some areas (low income) and better neighborhoods are pretty good. In the burbs it's relatively low. PM me if you have specific questions. Duck & Deer hunting is generally very good if you take a trip outside of Milwaukee. if you like to fish there is plenty of water too. Snowmachine is likewise. Check out the WI DNR web page for more detailed info but for the most part hunting is pretty good. I average at least a couple of deer a year. I duck hunt and tend to do pretty well (if my buddies would quit fighting with my brother), Snowmobiling never really got into that so really have no input sorry. |
And by having the federal one "we" did have one. Unfortunately some states chose to keep theirs while we did not. |
