Just a stupid question. Are you guys allowed to radar cars from a residential driveway?

As long as the property owner doesn't mind. When someone calls to complain about speeders I usually aske permission to use their driveway to resolve the problem. I won't just pull into a residential driveway without asking first though.

Yep, and I have a looong list of residents begging us to use their driveway for speed enforcement!

Unfortunately though, even if the PO didnt have permission to be in the driveway, it would not invalidate the citation.

Dont know. I was doing around 190 when I zipped by. Amazing how fast a few Naaaawwwss, Mugen and APC stickers can make a chevette go.

One of the local townships has a firefighter/part time cop who sits in someones driveway all the time. Heard a few people say its illegal for them to do that.

Nope, can sit pretty much anywhere on road right of way.  Most guys try not to sit in "unfriendly" driveways though.

Yeah, when you have little kids, you don't mind the presence.  I'm not on a main road though and it's usually pretty good around here.
