Anyone know anywhere that offers beginner motorcycle safety classes in the SE WI area.  I have heard gateway offers them, but their site is retarded to search on for some reason(or its me).

I work weird hours and days, so any suggestions would be helpful.  I'm willing to travel, just nothing insane.

Thanks.

A co-worker took classes that are held at the MATC South airport campus. I think the company is called Learn to Ride. She had classes on 3 or 4 successive weekends. I'll ask her more about it tomorrow and post what I find out.

Ditto that-check with your local Tech college, or motorycle shop. I took both basic and experienced courses at MATC (Madison). I don't ride anymore, but I keep my MC endorsement just in case!

I took mine with www.saferidertraining.com/

The class is at the crystal ridge ski hill. The guy who runs it, Warren Popa, was pretty cool.

ETA, I took the advanced class and the instructor laid down his bmw LT showing slow speed maneuvering (he is actually a very impressive rider, he was showing how you can drag the pegs at walking speed). One of the students, an older guy, dropped his Ultra Classic in a turn. It's not every day that you see two $25k on motorcycles on the ground.

Another place to look is the local Harley dealers. Riders Edge is held at various HD dealers. They usually use Buell Blasts for the training bikes. Riders Edge

That's where I took my MSC back in 2002.  It's the least expensive out there because it's from a public college.  (Private schools like Harley's courses, etc., were over $200 more expensive at that time.)  However, they don't cut corners and it meets all state requirements.

One thing- EVERYBODY knows this and motorcycles are only getting more popular.  I actually drove down to MATC two hours before they opened on the first day of registration.  Two people were already in line!  Another 20-some people got in line behind me between then and opening.  I was class sign-up #6-- the two in front of me and another four people who registered over the phone while those first two were registering!

Anyway, unless things have changed, just be sure to get in early and quickly if you want into MATC's classes.

Its like that for most of the MSF classes (cant say if the HD sponsored ones are similar). Usually fill up ASAFP.

I tried 4 TIMES to take the MSF course at Blackhawk Tech. Every time it was cancelled (early 90's). Twice we actually were seated in the classroom only to have someone come in and tell us that its cancelled due to teh teacher decided he didnt want to do it anymore. Different now. Eventually ended up just getting a permit, riding around for 2 yrs on a permit before taking the road test.

I took the basic course at WCTC about 3 years ago. Was like $85 at the time. I think it was 4 sessions or so.

Here is what I found out from my co-worker: You have to enroll through Milwaukee Area Technical College, the company that does the class is indeed Motorcycle Safety Foundation (as other posters have mentioned), they provide the bike, and she thought it was about $150 (she can't remember for sure as one of her past sugar daddies paid for it ).

Hope that helps.
