I've been to the shows, met the various sellers there and have wondered... is there a really reliable local (SE WI) guy everyone here looks to (other than themselves for those who reload). I'm mainly interested in 9mm and 308. I would collect and return brass with glee to such a person. I'd reload myself, but my situation prevents it. Thoughts? |

Can you change your situation? If you are in a dorm or some other 'restricted' place, can you get a buddy to let you use some space now and then? I won't reload for others, due to the liability. I'm sorry thats the world we live in, but thats the fact. I'm sure I'm not alone in this feeling. If you can't change your situation, keep saving your brass until you can. Otherwise, try to get a friend involved who could help out. I have allowed my friends to use my press until they get comfortable enough to buy their own gear and do their own. 9mm didn't really pay to reload the last time I checked (though it might be now!) but you could definitely save a bunch on .308. |
not only is it a liability, bit it is also a fealony i believe as the gobbermint needs their piece of the action, IE a license. also required is a million dollar minimum liability insurance policy. those are NOT cheap. i reload, i will not reload for others, at the very most i might let a friend shoot a mad or 3 of my ammo through my gun. nothing will derail a friendship faster than someones gun breaking with your reloads being run through them, regardless of if the failure is ammo related or not. if a friend shows interest in reloadng, i will teach them. I am not their ammo slave, as reloading is hard work |
Sounds pretty far out there..... Any links to that claim? |

I'm not as picky as others about letting others shoot my handloads. My friends all shoot my stuff and they love it because they usually don't pay for supplies (HINT,HINT,Bosshaus If I got to know you and went shooting with you alot I would probably let you shoot my stuff. I'd be carefull about buying reloads from a GS. You may never see this guy again and who knows what went into the ammo. I have heard people talk about Wisconsin Cartridge making good ammo and he's usually at all the shows. I got stiffed by him on some "processed" brass that wasn't so I now stay away. Let us know what you found at the show! Stang |
reloading gear isn't space consuming, but it is time consuming. I've seen decent ammo turned out on the lee hand presses, a pair of those would fit in a tackle box. This ammo price thing is really screwing with our hobby, isn't it? |
www.atf.gov/firearms/fflc/ffl/faqs_manu.htm anything under a million dollars for liability is chump change, especially when a firearm is involved, explosive powder in a confined chamber, usually close to the shooters eyes and head. any competent lawyer will assure you that the insurance of 1Mil is a necessity. you don't even want to know how expensive such a pollicy costs. |
EVERY small business should carry at least a 1Mil General Liability Policy. ![]() Mine's 2Mil, with several umbrella add-ons for 1Mil (specific locations). And if you have to ask how much, chances are you can't afford it. Lord knows I can't.

Amen to that. We carry that much for our small business as well. Can't imagine how much you'd want to have, making ammo. |
