Wondering if anyone on the boards is a current member of the Stoughton Conservation Club, http://www.stoughtoncc.com/ , and if so, what their thoughts onthe place were. Currently I shoot indoor pistol at Deerfield, and up until last year would drive to Columbus for rifle. Seeing as I live in Stoughton now, the conservation club seems like a logical choice. Thanks in advance for any input. |

Member Here...... I like the Place just to let you know in advance for the indoor pistol range only allows LEAD bullets (NO Jacketed bullets allowed in doors) they also have 3 nice rifle ranges , Trap , Skeet, Archery and indoor archery. For the amount of shooting I do its a great value . |
50, 75, 100 yards outdoor Ranges . Yeah It would be nice if they had a 200, 300, 600, 1000 yard Ranges But I don't think many of the members there have any interest shooting at those distances. |

I'm a member there also, 25,50, and 100 yard ranges, no rapid fire. Short indoor range as mentioned, although I'm not 100% sure you need to let a club officer know in advance anymore, now that they have that card key system in place for a few years. I haven't used the indoors in years. NO rapid fire, defined as more than 5 shots in 10 seconds. They try too hard to be good neighbors. Too much fudd mentality when it comes to the ranges. the the outdoor ranges have these houses and "baffles" that make it darn near impossible to shoot from anything except from the bench, except for the 25 yard, which you can shoot standing up more easily. On the plus side, the outdoor ranges are tree and wall line, which is great for developing a load, and allows each range to operate seperately. They have open trap and skeet every sunday if your into that, plus the various bow ranges. I'm a member pretty much just for the rifle/pistol range. Working nights, I don't get to the meetings so I can't be a member of the good ol boy clique that runs the club. All said and done, its better than no range at all! I pretty much have the range to myself since most of my visits are during the weekday. |

I'm also a member there. I'll echo the thoughts about at least it's a place to shoot - even if there is no rapid fire, paper-only targets, and stupid weekend closing hours. The indoor pistol range is a joke. I'm sorry, but the "ventilation" in there is down right hazardous, not to mention the lead-bullet-only rule. When I shoot pistol I use the outdoor 25yd range or, better yet, Deerfield Pistol. On the plus side, as mentioned before, during weekdays there is usually no one around - this is when I ususally go. |
