Anyone in SE Wisconsin familiar with HK91 clones? Or know anyone who is? I bought one at a gun show and it's given me nothing but trouble....no one seems to be able to fix it. Even took it to a gunsmith who said he fixed it, but didn't. Anyone? Thanks |
I didn't want to bore everyone with the issues if no one was familiar with the problems. OK, here is the scoop. I bought it used from a gun show. Took it to the range to shoot some military surplus FMJs. It fired 1 round and would not fire again. The charging handle just flopped back and forth with no resistance, and would not cycle the action. I took it to a gunsmith who had it a couple of weeks and said he fixed it. I picked it up from his assistant today. I pulled the charging handle back...the first time it went back about 75% of the way. The second time I tried it, it wouldn't move, like it was jammed or something. So he fixed the original issue, but a new problem has popped up. I apologize for the lack of info, and for my dumb questions. I'm simply not all that familiar with this weapon yet. Thanks for the replies |
The receiver is marked C91 Sporter .308 Cal Century Arms |

It kinda sounds like someone at some point put a claw style scope mount on this rifle. If thats the issue its pretty common, we just need to open the upper receiver tube a little. If its not due to a scope mount then it still sounds as if the receiver is a little tight and the bolt carrier is not allowed to move. From your first description, it sounds like the bolt carrier got stuck in the rear of the receiver, thats why the charging handle was flopping. You could also have a bent recoil spring guide. That would also be an easy fix, just take off the butt stock and examine the recoil rod. It should be perfectly straight. I'm pretty sure I have a Cetme recoil rod assembly if you need one. What I would do is, take off the stock, examine the recoil rod, then pull the charging handle to release the bolt. The carrier should fall freely out of the receiver. If it gets stuck then thats your problem. |
It had a claw mount when I got it. Sounds like you hit the nail on the head. |
I'm in SE Wisconsin, about 10 minutes from the airport in Milwaukee. If there was someone relatively close who would be willing to help in person, that would seriously kick azz |
