My brother was offloading ice for the event the other day and said that shots were fired from a multiple rifles at a farmer's field nearby. The shots went sailing over the stage, nobody was on it at the time.

Anyone hear anything?

The shooter looks like a real winner.. I heard they offered this guy a trip to Hawaii during the concert and he turned them down.. had a history of threats in regards to the location of the festival and was shooting at the speakers

The law shows up.. he refuses to comply and he gets a free ride on the "lightning"

Imagine if your teenage daughter were at the concert with her friends and gets killed by a stray ricochet from this stupid dump ass ignorant old fool.....

Just goes to show you ... not everyone should own firearms..... I hope they throw the book at him.

I have a bit of sympathy for the guy.  Not a lot, but a little bit.  I know I'd be royally pissed if they one day decided to stage a major concert right next to my home.  (And good luck selling now, btw)  From the article, they expresed their opposition at local board meeting during planning/zoning.  The Hawaii trip.. well, I know when my dad was 74 he had about zero interest in going to Hawaii.  But it was certainly good PR for the concert folks.....

BUT (big capital letters BUT),

Making threats was really dumb.

Shooting right next door to a large concert in an effort to disrupt it = Dumb Squared (Dumb^2)

Grabbing a cop's gun arm and wrestling with other cops =
Dumb raised to the power of Oh My God That's Freaking Dumb! (Dumb^OMGTFD!)

Sounds like he got somewhat F'ed over when they approved the concert next door, but he's hardly the first person to go through that.  Everything after that he did seems just plain stupid and made things worse.  Fully deserved a Taser ride.

Did you see the comments on the story?

If it was true that there was no actual damage and they were shooting at targets the opposite side (away from the concert grounds), then it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Sure, he'll get something for resisting arrest (putting it mildly), and he'll deserve it, but what if there was a false report filed? I'm giving this one benefit of doubt.

Anyways, isn't this near Wittman field? I spend the week there for the fly-in every year. I seem to recall seeing a sign last year saying "future home of country fest"

I hadn't read the comments, but that wouldn't surprise me.  The story itself said that there were 'reports' of damage but that investigators found no damage.  I know that the cops have to respond when they get reports like that.  But how about some consequences for people making false reports?

OT: rcav8r, I just realised what your screen name means!  What types do you fly?  I fly some of the small electrics (poorly that is).  I just had my Aero Ace out this morning - lotta fun for $30.

I haven't flown RC in over a year now...life has been too busy!
I do try to keep my stuff ready to fly though, batteries charged, etc.

Everything I have right now is glow. Currently a Twister, Twinstar, a 40 size trainer, a 2m glider (not engine powered though!), a giant scale stearman, and sig rascal 40. I have several kits in various stages of build.

I have used electrics in the past, and probably will if I get back into the hobby. I do keep up my club membership (MARCS in Madison) and help out.
