I just purchased a set of Meprolight adjustable sights off of the EE. If there is anyone within 30 mile of Milwaukee that has experience installing them on a Glock, and would be willing to install these for me, I would be more than happy to pay them to do it. I should have them next week I would imagine. The only one I know around here that might do it is Butch over at Badger, but I don’t go there if I don’t have to because Mick is such a horses ass.

Thanks guys,

Rick

vice-grips, slide from another glock(to use as a hammer) and something that could be used as a punch.

Listen to you guys.  Just be sure to use the dremel to polish the edges a little so it slides in smoothly.

A sight pusher isn't that expensive.  Two sight installations at a gunsmith would pay for the thing (well, maybe only one...never paid a gunsmith for it).  And there's no chance it'll break the vials.

Thanks for all the love guys. Now it's as cold inside as it is outside.

I brass drift will usually work for a glock.  We just purchased a Meprolite tool but it was over $400.  We bent one of the cheaper ones from Brownells on the first Kimber we tried it on.  XD's can be a pain also.  You could send us your slide we charge $25 plus return shipping but with a Glock it usually works well with a hammer and drift punch.  Take it slow!!!!

I don't think anyone is trying to be 'cold' to you.  I install my own sights but I'd be hesitant to do it on someone else's gear.  There's always a chance of something breaking, especially with night sights.  It's not hard to do it yourself, the advice given has been good.  But if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, there are other gunsmiths besides Badger's.

Here is a good link but requires a site tool:
Install

I know Streicher's Police Supply will install them for free if you buy them from there.

$85.  I guess the price went up--they used to be $60.

Careful with Streichers.  They like to push the PT night sights, which are crap.  Terrible machining, and Streichers charges the same for those as for Meprolights.  (This is as of 2 years ago, though.  Maybe they got enough complaints to quit doing that?)

I already have the sight on the way so I wouldn't want to buy another set. Someone was nice enough to IM with the name and phone number of a Glock armourer in Saukville that is willing to help me out. Thanks to everyone for there help.

I got my Mepros at Strichers, I didn't notice any PT sights. The mepros were $90.

Sorry I didn't explain myself fully, leading one to conclude that I was being sarcastic.

Badger:

Removing the old (and installing the new) rear sight is a fairly simple process that can be done with a soft-jaw vice, a mallet, and a brass punch of appropriate size.

The plastic Glock front sight can be removed by pulling on it with pliers.  The new one should come with a small machine screw and an appropriate tool to attach it.

You can do both of these yourself at home, even without the $80 sight pusher (no Dremel needed).

Very many of us in the WHTF consider our pistols tools and treat them that way.  Diminutive marks on the slide are of little concern to us, because chances are that we've already dinged them up quite a bit with use.

Thanks for the info FMD. A lot of guys have really stepped up on this for me. I appreciate everyones help. I'm sure it's quite simple, but since I haven't done it before I didn't wanna jag this pistol up. I'm sure after watching, next time around I'll do it myself.

Thanks again,

Rick

Ok...got the sights. Got the front off no problem. My nut driver won't fit in the slide though to tighten the nut on the new front sight down.

Before I try and tackle the rear, I'm back to asking for help. Anyone in the Milwaukee area that can help?

Thanks guys,

Rick

I'm going shooting tomorrow night at Shooters. Maybe I'll take the Glock with me, although I don't think Paul is there at night. We'll see. Maybe Eric can do it for me. I think they charge $20.00.

I just got a call from one of the guy's. He explained it all to me. Holy crap! It was easy. I got the rear sight installed in under 5 minutes. I just gotta get the right size nut driver tomorrow for the front and I'm good to go!

Thanks everyone.
