Probably so he doesn't get all the arses in the AR Diss thread giving him all sorts of BS answers. I've heard you guys discuss items like this and it's all straight from the hip from people that know what they're talking about.

Some of you already know my rants about the public forum and I wouldn't mind asking a question like this amongst ourselves.

I guess I don't know if you are breaking any rules or not, but it seems like this is a thread that belongs in a technical forum.

A chrome carrier will be easier to clean because hard chrome is very slick.  That's probably about the only thing you stand to gain, unless bling is your thing.

true while easier to clean...it doesnt hold lube for shit either though. That's one of the reasons why park has been so popular for years. It had good qualities in corrosion resistance and holds lube well.

not only that, but in the time it took to accumulate 5 worthless responses, the question could have been answered very politely right from the get-go.

The HTF is often used to get opinions from people you know or have at least met.  Sometimes it's hard to know if you should really trust the advice of a stranger that may or may not know what they're talking about.

Chrome bolts:  I haven't heard of these being widely used as a reliability upgrade.  Personally, I'd save the $$.

Edit: spelling

First off, please forgive me for responding in the WI forums, but I do surf here occasionally.  What brand of chrome bolt carrier?  Is this just the bolt carrier or the complete chrome bolt carrier assembly?  A chrome bolt carrier or complete assembly offers basically a little more wear and tear with some easier maintenance.  The wear and tear advantage comes from that the chrome is harder so it will last longer.  The chrome will also act as lubrication in a sense and again make things last a little longer.  Chrome will be easier to clean due to that the chrome in theory will let go of fouling easier due to its slicker and harder surface.  If you decide to do the upgrade, please make sure the parts are of good quality before you invest the money.

Call them. Either Bill, Doc or Pam will be happy to answer you. I had the opportunity to put my paws on one at the Waukesha show. I didn't notice any obvious vendor propoganda on it but it was indeed hard chromed unlike the flash chromed junk I've seen. I've been highly tempted to pick up one of their chrome carriers with the good LMT bolt they carry but just haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I'm not done hoarding ammo yet
