A thanks to everyone who chimed in on my recent thread about heading to The Gun Store in Las Vegas. I went friday afternoon and wow, what a nice place. Long story short, I shot four mags through the MP5, four through the MP40, and a 25 round belt on the M249 SAW. My associate tried out the Thompson. Reflections: Shooting full auto was everything I'd ever imagined. Holding the trigger and having the gun keep on firing is about as fun as it gets. The MP5 lived up to it's name. This one was seriously worn but ran like a champ. the range guy commented that, "We go through a lot of barrels. This gun will see ten thousand rounds this weekend." The MP40 was like getting the chance to drive a fine old car. Really smooth and easy to keep short bursts in a group. The SAW was a hoot. Freindly, knowledgeable young lady field stripped it and answered all operational questions in detail. Thing eats ammo like popcorn and when they say "lean your full weight into it", they are not kidding. |
