Since I'll likely never see CCW in my lifetime if we stay in WI I'm looking for an effective alternative.

Are pepper sprays legal in Milwaukee and the suburbs to carry concealed, even if you ever have to use it in self defense? I know for a fact a lot of transit bus drivers carry them but they're rarely used.

CCW is such that should you have to shoot someone in self defense following all the guidelines (feel threatened with mortal danger, try to retreat, etc., etc.) and there are no criminal charges filed, you the know the "perps" family is going to sue in civil court.

It will cost at least $6000 for an attorney and if it's a racial incident you're going to loose your ass, and your house and maybe even your employment.

Am I wrong. All it takes is one loss of temper and your life is ruined forever. But you're alive. Is it worth it?

Yes, pepper spray is legal in Milwaukee, and all of Wisconsin. You can buy it at just about any gun store, as well as a few other retail stores.

As for a civil suit involving a shooting, if you're being sued, it's going to cost a lot more than $6000. Try $60,000.

But whether or not you get sued depends upon how much the plaintiff's attorney thinks he can get from you. If I were involved in a shooting, I think it's pretty unlikely that any ambulance-chaser would waste his time.

If you're going to carry pepper spray, you might want to talk to Eric at The Shooters Shop. He teaches a course on the use of pepper spray. Only an hour or two, and doesn't cost much.

Thanks for great advice. By the way, the $6000 was only to retain an attorney, before any charges are filed.

I'll go to the Shooter's Shop and talk to Mike.  God speed

If you go to The Shooters Shop, talk to Eric.

There's no Mike there. ;)

That means on one hip in a cordura sheath I can carry a 9oz "Grizzly Bear Blaster" pepper spray. Maybe even get two pepper sprays, one on each hip.

And on the front of the belt next to the buckle, a matching black sheath with a folding serrated carbon knife with a 3" blade. Maybe two...

I could even wear a belt OUTSIDE a long black leather overcoat and a black ski-mask.  Since nothing is considered legally a weapon I'd be as snug as a bug in a rug. Might even hang a few more legal "tools" on my belt like maybe a battery powered nail gun. Sort of like "BATMAN", crime fighter extraordinary.

I have a friend who took to carrying a Manrikigusari worn as a belt.

Allerian, I've seen more than one hard-core biker type wearing a Harley primary chain as a belt.

Good point.  Man, that'd lay a beating down in the right hands.

On a similar note. What are the possible reprocussions here for carrying concealed?
