I just got a new bike and it's great to run around on. Was thinking it would be great to gab the pistol and head to range, donate some lead and come back home on the bike. The bike doesn't have any lockable luggage 'cept for under the seat, but that wouldn't be big enough to hold a gun in a case.

I would guess, with our wonderful laws, that it's a no-no with a little grey area. Your Thoughts? A Rifle?

I've always stuck my stuff in a backpack.  As long as it's unloaded, you'll be fine.

Was he speeding? Obvious gun cases?  If it's just a handgun, throw it in a backpack maybe, make sure it's not obvious, obey the traffic laws, I don't see how they could get you for anything ;) They're not going to pull you over for obeying the laws ;)

Wisconsin law requires a firearm to be unloaded and in a completly enclosed case when it is in or on a motor vehicle. it,s just as simple as that. Ya I know, you follow the law to the letter but it still makes ya feel uneasy.

Yeah, I had wondered about this as well.  I would have to carry it in a backpack since I own a crotch rocket and don't have any storage.  It would be unloaded and cased of course.  If it came down to it, I bet you could even argue that if it is in a backpack, it is unaccessible.  How can you get it out of a backpack while riding a motorcycle?  Food for thought.

When we go to the range on the bikes we strap the hard cases right across the back seat (these are definately NOT discreet) It's funny to looks you get from people when you pass em and they see the gun case.

(My dad has a full Dresser Harley)

Its a SPORTBIKE not CROTCHROCKET.

I strapped my P89 to the back of my olf FZR600 in the Ruger case. Even passed a local cop and he never batted an eye.

Unless you are limber and triple jointed, I doubt you could get anythig out of a backpack while riding.

DavidK, yes they will pull you over for nothing. At least they do in Janesville and had one in Elkhorn if you ride a sportbike. Been pulled over in Janesville for having my visor up but flipped his lights off and left when he seen I wear glasses. Elkhorn was anohe bs one. Freaking old cop pulled me over for following a school bus too close at 25mph. I could see the strobe on top without looking up. Was 3-4sec behind the bus. He tried to tell me I had to stay 500' behind the bus. Basically he tried to pull me over to try to write up equipment violations (FZR600 with stock pipe). Guy I knew at the state police told me there is no state law saying how far you have to be behind a moving school bus. Last I heard, the asshat cop got a week or 2 off for this stop and ended up getting fired for harassing a 16yr old kid in his dads Benz (lawyer).

I wanted to take the bike deer hunting near Gov Dodge state park one year when it was warm as hell. Then I thought how the hell would I get the deer home if I got one? Plus I dont have a soft case for my Rem 700. That was the year we went hunting in shorts and a t-shirt.
