First things first; My week was nothing compared to Flamethrower's (he started Chemo this week). Thoughts & prayers out to you, Todd. If you're up for visitors, give me a shout. Double_D's in town, and we'd like to come see you. ================================================ Second, if you're going to the NRA show, check out the Kimber display. It was one of the most involved installs we've ever done, was set up by my guys over the last 3 days (130+ man-hours), and I'm very proud of the job they did (you know who you are). For a comparison on how involved it was; look at the Glock exhibit. That is closer to our "typical" jobs (would have run about 25 man-hours, had we gotten the contract). Going back and dismantling Kimber on Sunday is going to be a bitch. Third, there was an "accident" in the apartment next door on Tuesday: www.themilwaukeechannel.com/news/9240343/detail.html (watch the video) www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=425065 www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=424652 Good kid turned Gangbanger. My "house" is a 4 unit condo. The shooting happened two pieces of sheetrock away from my kitchen. Some of you might remember the decedent as the kid that asked for permission to light off fireworks in front of my house last 4th of July. Looks like it was a .25 to the head ("accidently") , after some pot smoking. One guy led out in cuffs, "Petey" (Pedro) on a stretcher, and the EMT's left without running code or in a hurry. Pronounced at the hospital.I came home from the NRA setup to three cruisers in the driveway, and an CSI van on the street. When they left, the "Spanish Cobras" showed up en masse, and held a candlelight vigil in front of our shared front doors (and the driveway) until 2AM. At least they were quiet (for once). The 91 Camaro in the warrant report and inventory is mine, but I can't tell if they took anything. Petey's was a newer Gen. On a positive note, the sword they took wasn't my 1850's NCO dress sword, but now it looks like I need to add a trip to the Police Station on my "day off", to figure out if they grabbed anything of mine as "evidence". It's a shame that the kid met his maker. It sounds like he was trying to get his life back on track, but I don't know if I buy it. I'm almost sad. I've got photos of Petey with the dogs, and I taught him the four rules of gun safety about six years ago. I guess it's small consolation that the kid probably didn't suffer. I'm more sad for the kid's mom than anything else, though she had to know what the "kids" were into. Live fast, ... Fourth: The friggen Fisher decision. I still haven't had time analyze or comment, and now you know why. Hell, I haven't even had the chance to read it. Thanks to Photoman and Glenn_R for calling to let me know. I apologize if I was a little short on the phone, but as you can see, it's been a rough week. Since there was a muder in my HOUSE this week, I wonder if that will qualify us for a need for security now. ![]() Anyhoo, those holding their breath waiting for my commentary on Fisher will have to start breathing again. I won't get to it until later next week. I've seen enough drama for a while, thanks. |
LOL. Sorry again for being so short Wednesday AM. The shooting, Kimber problems at setup, and about 4 hours of sleep all in the 12 hours leading up to your call didn't exactly put me in the mood to talk about the Fisher decsion. ETA: The obit |
Well the offer stands if you ever think you need it. Buying a house is a real PIA but well worth the trouble in my opinion. either way Get the F#$K out of that place ASAP I really don't want to see anything bad happen to you guys. I know it can happen anywhere but the whole LK just makes me more worried about it now. BTH |
Not Latin Kings, rather LK wannabes: "Spanish Cobras". ![]() Maybe some of local LE can fill me in, but I've known that there were (what I thought to be) small-time 'bangers in the neigborhood for a while. I've been assured that the dogs work better than a proffessionally-installed electronic alarm for when we're not home, and as far as bad stuff happening when we are home; well, I guess you could say that we're prepped in mindset, tactics, and hardware. |
