Can anyone recommend a vacation spot, resort, nice fish camp, etc., located somewhere between LaCrosse and Lake Superior.  [ I'm not interested in Door County or the Baraboo region on this trip.]  Later in the week we'll be near Lacrosse for my brother's wedding.

Activities we would like?  Fishing, biking, hikes, horseback riding, Sporting Clays, skeet, and relaxin' on the water front.

There are a few guys from up in that area on the boards here.  Wait for them to chime in, as they'll know better than us "downstaters".

There's lots of nice places to visit up here in da north ya know!  It just depends on what you want to do.  I hear that the aposital (spelling?) islands are a nice place to visit.  Bayfield is a really nice town.  There are a few garand shoots in hayward and eau claire but I don't know when they are.

Otherwise, you can just pick a lake to stay on and catch fish.  The St. Louis river in known for really good walleye fishing.  The St. louis runs bewteen Duluth and Superior.  There are a lot of trout streams starting at the Brule in douglas Co running into Bayfield Co.

There are resorts all over up here and they all have good/bad qualities.  If you look around, you could probility rent a cabin.

We rent a cottage on a lake for a few weeks every year.  Just google "wisconsin cottage lake rentals" or something of the sort...

The Brule River State Forest area off of Hwy. 2, 20 miles East of Superior is great.  I grew up near there. You can go canoeing on the Brule River, Rent 4 wheelers, etc. There are motels in Brule and Iron River or if camping is your gig that's available too.   Check out the Lake Superior Beach at the mouth of the Brule. plenty of fishing but get a license as the fish cops are JBT up there.

Take tons of pictures and post 'em here! I miss home and won't be up there 'till bow season in Oct. and rifle season in Nov.
