Since my thoughts are kinda random right now that's how I'm going to post: Big thanks to Stan and Colleen for being great hosts and putting up with us. Sully put on another great class that leaves me thinking and digesting all the new info for a long time. And itching to get out and practice it. (I've dry fired today already.) Thank you to everyone that brought and shared water, ice and Gateraid. I know Sully, Todd and Melissa (SP?) all did - if anyone else did, thank you also. Thanks to both QuinlanV and Death451 for all their help. You guys were great. Todd: I think your new sig line should be: 'Pistol Puncher'. I really like the grip that Sully shows. I need lots more practice but by the end of class it was feeling pretty good and scoring more hits faster. I noticed also trying that grip on a Glock made the Glock grip feel a lot better to me. (I normaly like a less angled grip like my XD.) Interesting. I saw no major pistol malfunctions. The worst was a couple of double feeds that were quickly cleared. We had lots of Glocks. Quite a few 1911s. Some HKs. Two XDs. A Baby Eagle. And at least one rusty SIG. Training on steel is fun. Shade is good. Water is very good. A shower at the end of the day is almost heaven. I feel like I need to sit down, go back through the class in my head and write down notes for myself. I stopped at Gander looking for some HSTs. None found. To all our medics both Pro and Am. (You know who you are) You took time from your training to look out for the rest of us. Thank You. Too bad Kris diddn't get to poke anyone. Well I gotta eat something on my lunch break. Thanks all for now. Edited cause I can't remember names. It's genetic. My mom still sometimes calls me by the dog's name and that dog has been dead for 15 years! ![]() |

Another great class, with a good time had by all. Thanks again to Sully, BC and Cleen for getting this together. I picked up a lot of new ideas, some will be incorporated into my shooting techniques, some won't, but that's teh beauty of Sully class; take it all in, and decide what to do with it. A big shout out to Quin and Death for their aid, and comedic relief Did I mention we had the FiveGunChampBulletMagnet there to help |
Operator error on a 3" 1911 type .45 subcompact (in a "Tactical Pistol" class ). Me. Limp-wristing. Malfunction clearing instruction from carbine class helps, although Sully, Quinlan, and Death screaming in your ear speeds things up a bit.
Sorry, I was too busy enjoying the grab-ass on the firing line when doing lateral movement. ETA: Thanks to all who made this class come off as it did (you know who you are). "Are ya drinking? How often are ya peeing? What color is it?"

I'm more awake now Thanks to BC and Colleen first off, and to Sully as well for a great class. Thanks to TommyTrauma and None and as well for looking out for all of us. Thanks to Quin and Death451, It's always great to see you guys. Thanks again for all the help. Todd and Melissa thanks for bringing the water and gatoraid to share with everyone PX wasn't the only one who went through more than they thought they would. This class was great, I think one of the biggest things I got out of it was that I need to remember to slow it down. When I rushed things it was very noticeable, especially when we were shooting the steel.I loved working on the steel, that was great, I so have to get some. It was nice to be able to find the weak parts of my shooting and actually see it so now I can get out and correct it. |
Q is that the 9mm the .40 or th 45?? And do ya know where the best place is to order some from I want to get some in 9mm and .40 |
Hey Quinlan can we get your wife to do a photoshop of FMD with the fab5 also??? ![]() Very much agreed Thanks to BC and the missus for their kind hospitality!!!! Sully not much to say here except, YOU ROCK!!! |
.45ACP 230gr +P I bought mine (both .45 and 9mm) at Streicher's |
All right hotshot, let's see how well you do with 2" less barrel/slide and the 2-stage trigger! ![]() I Don't seem to find the need to compensate for a small, well, you know... ![]() |
So you bought a tiny gun that doesn't work out of a need to prove that you don't have a small unit? You've got issues, man. |
|
|
Here, I'll post a quickie AAR to tide you over: 1. Mucho lecture on: A. Safety 1. Weapon safety A. Basic handling B. Hot range concepts C. Range commands 2. Phone availability 3. Weather/heat related issues 4. Medic availability (WI contigent probably has the best medics on the board!) 5. Concealment gear, holsters, clothing issues, etc. C: Use of force concepts and related legal issues 2. Break, drink, pee 3. Shoot 4. Break, drink, pee 5. Shoot 6. Break, drink, pee 7. Shoot 8. Break, drink, pee You get the picture, right? |
+1 on both accounts!
That hurt, man. That hurt. ![]() You got me. |
Tommy, email me the rest of the photos and I'll resize them so the page doesn't take 45 minutes to load for the dialup guys... |
Just did a little crop and edit. |
Dave, you missed a truely great class. But... much like the carbine class, it was a lot of information in a short time. I know that I could really benefit from doing it all over again. I'm hoping that we can make both the combo (carbine I/II and pistol I/II) classes an annual thing. I'd have no problems shelling out the rather nominal tuition as a refresher / skill retention kinda thing. I expect you'll get your chance, and I'll get a chance to mooch a few more .458 shots off of ya. [soapbox mode] Folks, I teach people to perform fine skills under stress. Take my word for it, our newly honed skills will degrade in no time unless we work to cement them and refine them further. Let's all drill on this stuff, and then do the class again next year to see how we've improved as a group. [/soapbox] |
Sully would say "This is what we in law enforcement call 'a clue'".
ETA: Does the grab-assed-by-the-5-gun-champ-who-bought-a-tiny-gun-that-doesn't-work-out-of-a-need-to-prove-that-he-doesn't-have-a-small-unit have to spell it out further for you? ![]() |
Wow, we're a tad testy, eh? Friggen email is giving me a hard time with the attachments. Will get 'em out to ya on the morrow. If nothing else, I'll upload em to a photo hosting service and kick the link over to you. |

late on the thread, but thanks to BC, colleen tommy, and none for the help with my lack of hydration. thanks to all who broght the drinks. I learned alot from this class. being a first "training" class i took i think i found another addiction besides my BRD, and my pistol addiction. i started practicing the new grip i like it more than the one i was using. i've always had a flinching problem and i know it but i've been having problems ridding it. more dry firing, more MUCH more range shooting. sully's right slow is smooth and smooth is fast think thats how it went?. i plan on taking the carbine class sometime in the future, when funds and time allow. |
Well, I figured I would get this in before I go under the knife tomorrow. You know just in case I croak or something.![]() Anyway, I had a great time! I never really liked school, but when I came to anything that involved the service or firearms I always enjoyed it and sucked up the knowledge like a sponge. I want to thank everyone for everything. Stan and Coleen thanks for hosting this. Some people are kinda funny about having 25 people with guns on their property. You guys were great. Sully thanks for some great training. I learned a lot in just a couple of days. We will be practicing as much as we can. Again I will certainly like your Yodaness to train me more in the ways of the force. As for the water and drinks and stuff. Melissa(sp?) ![]() You guys and gals seem to be a great bunch of people, thanks for such a warm welcome. I know I could always use a few more friends. What better friends then, friends with guns. Sorry I don't remember everyones names and faces as of yet, but I hope it will come with time. ![]() There are quite a few very good shooters in the group. I hope to get much better and shoot as good as Will in the SEWSA shoots. Anytime anyone wants to practice as a group or something give me a shout and if I am free I would love to be in on it. In conclusion I cannot spell worth a crap. The training was great, tons of info and way to little time. Now I have to get Melissa her own AR so we can take Carbine I&II and try to get up to speed with everyone else. Well if you hear from me tomorrow then everything went well. If you don't it means I have assumed room temperature and no you cannot split up my gear! Todd |
Get better, man, and post pics of the procedure if you can convince the nurses to photograph. Tom, = Testy. 'S all good, will wait for the email.

Let me add my thanks to our hosts, as well as 5GunChamp for the PBJ sandwiches when I forgot to bring lunch It was really appreciated. It was a pleasure seeing you all again. And I came away with a new signature line Photoman, IM an address where I can send that .22 ammo for testing. You need to give me an AAR on that suppressor with this ammo, since I couldn't hang out Saturday night. When's the Carbine 3/4 road trip? |

Pepper Spray & Stun Gun update When we discussed various pepper spray options at class I mentioned Fox 5.3 isn't available over-the-counter in Wisconsin. I'd thought that was because Fox contained UV dye, but after reading up I found out I was wrong. It can't be sold OTC because Fox doesn't meet the labeling requirements set forth in Administrative Code Jus 14.03 that implements State Statute 941.26(4). The state implemented a very strict labeling requirement that many manufacturers don't meet. Fox doesn't include the required phone number for more information and complete list of ingredients (doesn't specify propellent used) so it can't be sold in Wisconsin. The actual contents of the Fox can are legal under Wisconsin law. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused. Also, regarding stun guns in Wisconsin, state statute 941.295 prohibits "any device which is designed...to immobilize or incapacitate persons by the use of electric current". Possession or use is a class H felony. |
Jesse anytime you want to go out to the club and practice any of this stuff let me know and I'll do what I can to meet up with you. It always helps to have somone else go through this stuff with you. |
|
Thanks for the update, Glenn. Your info and experience are much appreciated. And sorry I diddn't flinch for you when you were doing the trigger press exercise. You almost fooled me a couple of times but I must have gotten my fliches out of the way when Sully was working with me. |

Well, I am ok! Woot! For those who didn't know, the Doc's thought I might have a blocked artery in my heart, die to my chest pains and the stress test I failed. So I opted for the heart cath lab prcedure. They stick a catheter into my femeral artery via my groin area, and then into my heart. They fill the heart and arteries with dye that can be seen on x-ray and check everything out. So, ticker is good, arteries are good, and valves are good. I have a couple of days of down time to recover. I actually scheduled this procedure after Sully's class. I did not want to miss the class. I am just a little bummed, I am home now for a day or two and I cannot practice anything I learned last weekend. I hope I will be able to practice this weekend though. All is good and thanks for the concern. |
Glad to hear you are OK. Now Melissa (SP?) Remember, you can always dry fire! |
Thanks, and yes she has been great. She has been doing everything for me. Even the thing I can do for myself. I should be back to full tilt by Saturday. Just in time for 95F for some good hot weather training. ![]() I probable will be doing some dry firing drills while at home. At least it is something. |
|
Finally got a little more playtime here. First off, thanks a lot to Stan and his wife for hosting the class. Thanks to Sully and his assistants (Q and 5 - GUN - CHAMP! Finally, thanks to my fellow class members, for helping to point out what I was doing wrong, providing constructive input to each other, for the usual hospitality, and for being such good company for the hotter than hell weekend! We have a great group. Flamethrower, I was not aware you were ill. Glad to hear you came out of the Docs office in good shape! The more I train, the more training I want. Am I becoming a training junkie? Now, where are the pics, and who is writing the AAR? I might have time to throw in some input tomorrow night!
|
Thanks, and yeah my own father didn't know about any of this until today. I got a tounge lashing from him when he found out. I just hate to worry anyone until there is something to worry about. |
|
Another great class. Big thanks to Stan and Coleen for hosting. Thanks to Sully for all the information (and there was a lot of it). Thanks to QuinlanV and Death451. The extra attention you guys provided the class was a big plus in my book. Thanks to all who provided the extra beverages. And of course lastly, thanks for not hassling the only FIB in the class too much! Now I need to get practicing all this information while combining it with my carbine drills. Also need to start saving up for the next class, whatever it might be. |
I've got a few of your pics, one from BC, and a couple more from Tommy. I was hoping that y'all would add your comments so I could assemble them and throw them up on a page with my own. |
I should have some; we took a shitload. Haven't pulled them off of the camera yet, so I don't know how many came out. Should have time to mess with them tomorrow night. FT, glad for the good news. I didn't know you had this weighing on you during the class. It would have distracted me quite a bit. Oh yeah, I wouldn't blame your Dad if he gave you a swift kick in the pants for not telling him what was going on. |

= Testy. 'S all good, will wait for the email.
