I'm going to a High Power clinic in Green Bay on the 30th with some friends.I'm trying to locate 3 boxes of Federal Gold Medal .308 in 168 gr but no one around here stocks it.Does anyone know a place that has it or who carries an equivalent ? Too late for internet ordering.I was just going to use some cavim i had laying around but bets have been made, fortunes wagered, and pride is on the line ie.worst shooter of our group pays for gas and lunch. With 5 guys weighing 250 or better each and a 3/4 ton Suburban being our ride, that's ALOT to lose.

I would think you could get some off the internet if you order today (or pay increased shipping price)... worst come to worst you have extra ammo....

If you use your CAVIM you'll be buying for sure. your best bet is to try and call  some Gander Mountains and see what they have for Black Hills Ammunition as they make an equivalent round. You will not find Fed Gold medal match around anywhere locally. I have never seen any. (read Internet orders)
Or call Sportsmen Warehouse . it's new  and in Depere. ( I don't have the number) I checked it out a few weeks a ago and they had a pretty awesome selection.
I'll assume you are using a M1A as your talking CAVIM (a 7.62 rd)
If you had some Portuguese or Hirtenburg .308 that stuff all shoots excellent and I have used it in High power matches on full size 600 yd ranges and shot low 700's with it.

I had a case of the CAVIM back in the 90's and My experience was bad. shot dirty, poor accuraccy and I had to kick open the Op rod on a round that would not extract. After it happened twice I shot it up in my FAL just to get rid of it.

Didn't think of Black Hills, when I called I just asked for the Federal.I'm almost positive I saw some Black Hills ammo at a local shop.Wouldn't happen to be any gunshows this weekend? I have some m118 special ball but i'd really hate to break that open.

To hell with that store bought crap. Make your own. It is the only way to get the best match ammo made.

Gander mountain should have some, Black Hills 168gr BTHP.
Jalensky's in Kenosha had a crap load of 168gr FGMM when I was in there like 6 months ago, they also had sopme black hills 168gr at one time too.
If yer shooting match you can't go wrong with Black Hills, I've found it to be more consistant than FGMM.

Where are you at? That would help too.

I'm in Mayville so i'm pretty much equal distance to most everything in this side of the state.Maybe a poker run with gunshops instead of bars is in order this weekend.

I'll hit them both Fri or Sat, have a Garand being held at Bill's that I should really go break out . Flamethrower, where do you shoot,I used to shoot at a buddies farm but sold some of it off so i'm limited to about 50 yds.Seriously looking into a club preferably with an active group of rifle shooters that doesn't cost a grand to join. The few places i've seen catered mainly to trap and skeet and the rifle range was an afterthought ,really only used to get minute-of-deer practice once a year.

I shoot on private land near me. I too am limited to 50yards for the most part. If I want 100 there, I need to get outside the gravel pit. Normally for rifle I go to McMiller. I was a member at the Saukville rifle and pistol club. They stop sending me renewals for some reason. I am not sure if it is even there anymore.

I have been looking at getting a good membership somewhere near us. Anything with any kind of distance cost's an arm and a leg. I am still on the hunt. Is it to much to ask to find a 300 or 600 yard range that doesn't want my first born as payment?
