| Hey everyone. I was recently thinking about trying to get an AK style gun and was wondering if there's any stores that are able to sell them. Buds guns as well as other online sellers have plenty but being a Colorado resident I can not get one of these as they come standard with 30 round magazines. Do any places in Colorado sell them with 10 round magazines? Also, I heard that rifle purchases can be made by Colorado residents in bordering states. Is it an option to buy a rifle that comes with a 30 round magazine out of state as long as I don't take possession of the magazine? -Thanks |

What you choose to do is your decision. One can purchase an AK style rifle without such magazines, as the rifles themselves were not banned. I'm sorry, I cannot help with locating one being sold, with or without 10 round magazines. |
Thanks guys. I had originally looked at buds guns but they won't change anything... How hard is it to take some mags out of the shipment? Good to see that certain places will do that. Do you know if I can buy a rifle in a bordering state as long as I don't take possession of the magazines? If so I was also curious how the background check would work. I know I'd have to go through an FFL but would I have to pay the $10.00 fee as well? Just curious as I don't see how out of state gun shops would be set up to do that.

Some online companies don't want to deal with the possible legal issues if they accidentally ship a banned mag with a rifle. And before anyone says hogwash, I ordered a rifle online and put in the notes and called them up to make sure they knew not to ship the mag, yet it still arrived at my FFL with a 30 round mag. The dealer put the mag in the safe and told me to pick it up after they fix or abolish the law.
There are plenty of dealers in the state that have AK pattern rifles available. I have bought a couple of rifles in neighboring states from FFL dealers, and am not aware if the law has changed |

You wouldn't be required to pay Colorado's poll tax as well. Regarding buying a firearm outside the state, you can purchase it with the magazine(s), you just can't bring them back to Colorado. So, you could go to that State's HTF and tell them you're picking up a rifle with x number of magazines, and ask if anyone wants them. You could give/sell them to someone else in the store, or throw them in the trash before you come back. It just depends on how you want to handle it. Colorado cannot punish you for possessing magazines in another State. They can only (try to) punish you if you bring them back. |

OP Most online retailers will just take the mags out. I don't know what is up with Buds, but classic firearms, JG sales, Atlantic Firearms, center fire systems, etc. buds told me to get bent on this exact same issue 3 weeks ago. They claim they are a distributor and not a manufacturer and could lose distributor status if they open/unseal packages. They come right from the manufacturer and to your FFL with a pit stop in Bud's warehouse. AIM tole me they would keep the mags and knock $20 off the price for each mag that was supposed to come with it. Grab a gun will keep the mags too, not sure if they'll adjust price |
