| Hi all, I'm a Gov't Contractor from Georgia headed to Fort Carson the second week of November through June. Not sure if the wife and my son are coming with or not and just wanted to get a line on the best areas to live in the vacinity of the base. I will be working on the airfield on post and would prefer to avoid any long slow drive to work and back if at all possible. Our Team lead went out there and said gate 20 is probably our best bet for making it to work on time. I guess my question is, are there any people here who can tell me about the commute from town, to post through the various gates? We're looking at possibly renting furnished but furnished is not a requirement, just weighing our options. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! |
| I work on Fort Carson. Fountain is a great area with easy access to gate 20. It is not far to the Springs. Academy Blvd. (connecting to Hwy. 85) and Powers give you easy access to the Springs. There are plenty of fast food and casual dining places down here now. We have a super Walmart, Safeway and Lowes. I've lived in Fountain sine '98. I've worked on base in one capacity, or another since '80. If I can be of any assistance, drop me a note. I'll help if I can. |
