Gent's,

Why would Magpul offer 4 separate priority magazine selections to CO residents for the Boulder Airlift program if only half the options are available? I placed an order early last week and only 10 of the 25 mags are being shipped...just frustrated I guess since my card was charged for the full amount.

Edit: 3/19/13

Well, everything is pointing to the governor signing this BS tomorrow Therefore, out of curiosity - has anybody received their back ordered mags yet?

Be patient, I am sure they got swamped.  I placed an order early for the max on everything, and I got a box in the mail yesterday.

Magpul is a great company and they are going out of their way to support Colorado residents.  I am sure that they are not making a ton of money on this deal, as they are charging a flat $5 shipping.

Yes, you're right - I guess I just was expecting all offerings to be in stock if it allowed us to place an order vs. flagging as "out of stock" or, "backordered". Also, I was under the impression all of these were in stock exclusively for CO residents - the "Backordered items" was disappointing to see...I want my Pmags damit

Magpul has obligations to fill with their distributors.  I bet they set aside some mags for Colorado, but we bought them all.

We have until June 1st.  They will take care of us.

Magpul has publicly stated they will never serial number their mags. The CO "high capacity" mag ban bill states that all "high capacity" magazines in colorado must be serial numbered after the law goes into affect.

So.. basically any PMAG without an SN that is also stamped "Made in Colorado" or "Made in Boulder" is a pre-ban mag (since they wont be manufacturing in Colorado should the law go into affect)

They are date stamped, and have been for years.  The serial number idea is stupid, but not necessary anyway.

Also, while I certainly don't know how Magpul handles their operation, it's likely that they do runs of a certain mag type.  No doubt Gen 2 MOE and Gen3 non-window mags are probably run most of the time, but they'll probably config for windows or LR-20s for a week or two or whatever to handle volume.  That's pretty common in manufacturing.

Here's what the date stamp looks like (Aug, 2007):

As usual, if Magpul offers only one "X" type, for sure a whole bunch of people would flood Magpul's emails asking if they can buy "Y" type, easier just allow everyone to buy some of each, IMO.  Regarding the availability of some types, perhaps the Boulder Maglift program is a really really really big success so just plain runs out of the allocated lots They will make more and get them to us before July 1st.

Personally I think they are rationing the mag so everyone at least gets some now.  I ordered the max of all the types, the Gen3 were back ordered.  People that ordered after me have received Gen3 mags.

I have had some Gen M3 30 round 5.56 mags backordered with DSG for almost two months now; it appears that they are producing large batches of mags at once and we're just in a cycle now where they are producing the M2 rather than the M3 mags.  I am not worried about not getting them before July.

We have stopped partial shipment of mags on the Boulder Airlift. All orders will wait to go out complete from now on. Back orders are just waiting for the next batch to be completed and they will be the first ones out.

We are looking for a way to simplify the order process but we have limitations on the system we use.  We are limiting the amount of mags per transaction in order to discourage resell of these mags outside of the state.

Looking to open some Colorado direct sales locations soon.

Starting mid May maybe you can sell them out of Drakes Haus?

That might just be what's called a temporary authorization hold: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_hold

It will likely fall off when they settle their credit processing batch. My household has received two of the orders we placed. Our credit card has not been charged at all and the Pmags are in my hands!

I posted this in the industry forum as well but, is there a way that us Denver residents can get 20 round pmags?

If Hick signs the bill, Godspeed Magpul. It's a travesty what has happened to this state.

No it is the .mil number to order mags. Same Order on all mags (not unique).

-So it seems that the Gen3s are no longer available via the Boulder Airlift as well as the 7.62 Sr-25 mags are limited to 5 mags (vs the 10 of earlier).

What is everyone's timeline like?  The last communication I received was on the 6th when I was given access to the order site and then a short time later on the same date my order confirmation.  Nothing regarding status of the order, items backordered etc. since.  Prior to that my last contact was on the 28th of Feb.  Does this time frame run consistent with the rest of you?  I'm not slamming Magpul just looking to see how I sit on the timeline.  Thanks.

Thank you for the clarification - do you by any chance have an approximate time frame for the back orders to be shipped out (1 week, 1 month, longer)? I'm just anxious (I'm sure like everyone else) to get these in hand before this crap hits the governors desk

I really appreciate Magpul's efforts to take of us here in CO!

The cage number is a manufacter id # that the military uses, and the NSN is a stock # the military uses.  They're not serial numbers by any means.

Joe, my last communication from Magpul was on the 6th.  I ordered 5 gen 3, no window mags.  No updates, no status, my card was charged but nothing else from them.  I imagine the volume of emails/calls they are receiving are just overwhelming.  I'd just like to know my status, hope you hear something.

I received the Gen 2 windowed and Gen 2 non-windowed mags several weeks ago.  I got a ship confirmation Monday for my remaining mags (Gen 3 non-windowed) and received them yesterday.  Magpul posted on their Facebook page a few days ago that if you received an order confirmation for the Boulder Airlift or a backorder notification that you WILL receive your mags before July 1.

Must be nice I finally called Magpul today to inquire about my back ordered mags (yes, I'm impatient right now since the traitor signed the crap today). Anyway, they advised the Gen3's and 20LR's would be back ordered at least another 1-2 weeks - but, they will be shipped by July 1...good grief - potentially another 3+ months

I agree and I'm right there with you bro - placed my order on 3/5...how other cusomers have received their full order when they placed it after our order date is beyond me? I'm a former distribution services manager and they correct way the order fulfillment process works is: FIFO (first in, first out) - obviously, there is some wires crossed for the boulder airlift program. Oh well, I'll just have to stop complaining and wait patiently (just frustrating from a paying customers standpoint)

A buddy of mine who ordered after me got his full order first, I know its hard to wait but I can only imagine the numbers of product orders coming in. Maybe they are grouping orders by location or other means? Either way looking at the crap price and selection of mags in my part of CO this is hands down the best bet, and most fair shake for getting these mags in hand before its too late.

Magpul addressed this issue recently in one of the many threads. Their system isn't set up to process individual orders efficiently. They said initially they were sending out partial orders but that was going to stop and they were only going to send out complete orders. That kind of gives the early orders the shaft (me included, i have 10 back ordered) but we'll all get our mags at some point. If you're hurting that bad for mags to shoot at the range, you didn't prepare properly

I wouldn't worry about it fellas, they'll get the mags in our hands by July. Heck, i've still got a large back order with DSG from the 23rd of the December, talk about a long wait!
