[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Blackhawks and Chinooks

I am kind of new to the area and live near Broomfield. Can anyone tell me what the Blackhawks and Chinooks are doing every night around 8pm in the Front Range between Golden and Boulder?
My bedroom window has a view of the Flatirons,and the helicopters seem to be just to the South of the Flatirons. There have been at it several nights this week,at approximately the same time each night. You can here them flying around back there,at low altitude,and in and out of the valleys.

Not complaining,just interested. It's nice to have a free airshow each night.

We have a General Support Aviation Battalion at Buckley. If you remember the chinook that went down with the SEALs, the pilot was a CWo from 2/135th here at Buckley.

ARFCOM always delivers!

Thanks,now it's off to find a mountain top to watch the Blackhawks,Chinooks and Apaches play.

I have had some nice two ship, low level F-16 passes on occasion while out hiking in the Front Range,seems that my chances are better around Green Mountain and South Boulder Peak.

Any other good spots,for free air shows?

The C130 pics are amazing!

Thanks for the lead. It is on my list of destinations this summer. I am hoping to get down to Groom Lake again,for the next Red Flag. I have seen some amazing pictures coming from there.

take a look at the HAAFs web page, they list thier primary mountain LZ's that they train on.

Will do mtnclimber and plug into my GPS so when I am in the area,maybe I'll get lucky.

I am headed down to the dunes,hoping to catch the super moon,Saturday night. Highway 115 is on my way,so I am hoping to catch some low level C-130 action too.
