I haven't been there in a few years. I believe that you can still shoot there. It is NF anyways...they(last time I went)had closed the main shooting area. This was the first opening to the 'range.' No shooting signs everywhere. Doesn't mean you can't go up into NF without signs and shoot FWIW. Like I said, haven't been in years. IM and I can give you a few spots outside of Nederland if you want. Bit farther but much better spots. |

I've been going to lefthand for the past 2 years so I'm well aware of the 4 wheelers and the amount of crap up there. Unfortunately I can't afford a range membership at the moment and shoot mainly steel cased ammo because it's cheap. I also don't have the space to reload so that cuts reloading out as well. I was just wondering because with the Boulder fire a month ago they shut lefthand down as a fire hazard and I haven't heard if it's been reopened yet. IM sent about locations close to Nederland. I'm at roughly 120th and I25 if anyone knows close spots to shoot that are free or cheap. |

I always take my ATV and cruise past all the morons. the trash just pisses me off. we needs to get the parks, us on here, the 4x4 guys all together and clean the place up and start cracking down on people for littering. post a $1000 fine for littering sign and enforce it. if you bring it in, you better bring it back out. I am all for blasting a tv or radio or whatever other fun reactive targets, but take that shit to the dump instead of leaving it.... |

OP, the place is fine to shoot at. Just pay attention to your surroundings. 2 times I have packed up and left due to reckless shooters. Everyone has been pretty good about cease fires. I don't shoot there because of...other people. |

I spoke with a federal wild life officer and have a sheet from the National Forest Service that says left hand is shut down.
Ranger said its due to morons and people leaving their junk all over. I have been eagerly looking for an area Local to me here in boulder where i can go shoot. I went for drive 2 weeks ago to find something acceptable, but couldn't find anything. I actually would love the opportunity to go shooting with someone that knows of a good SAFE area. If there is a scheduled event locally, can i come? do i have to register/sign up? |
