Good Morning!!

I'm new to arfcom and this is my 1st post.  My husband posted a pic of our son on FB holding his new toy...M1 Garrand.  A good friend of mine just text me and said to be careful as she wouldn't want Social Services coming to my door.  Is this something I should be concerned about (social services)?

No.

Your "friend" is being a bit of a nanny.  Plenty of kids, especially in CO grow up with firearms.  As long as he's not aiming it in an unsafe manner, or looking down the barrel I think you're fine.  Since it's on FB you can bet that there will be plenty of people who object and might try to report it simply because they're socialist anti-gunners, No Social Services person is going to touch it unless there's some proof of danger.

agree.  a more legitimate concern is letting the world know you own the rifle.  some folks prefer to be a bit more under the radar about it––of course some folks aren't.  many on this site don't advertise what you know.  and remember, when you put it on FB, they own the photo now, and can use it for whatever purpose they want.

I know you!
As to the SS coming to your door, I would say that since you are in JefCo and the cops are acting pretty crazy about kids it is a possibility. Not a huge one but a possibility. Mainly if one of the FB friends drops a dime. I dont think your husband has his profile open to anyone, just friends right?

ETA: BTW sweet M1!  He got a great rifle!

not sure facebook is a good idea at all, to many crazies out there, looking to justify their pitiful existance.

Welcome aboard!

If you husband is who I think he is then he posted the pic here too. It's fantastic! The rifle is taller than the kid.

There is nothing threatening or unsafe with that picture. You were contacted by some ninny who's afraid of guns, their own shadow, and have nothing better to do than butt into other people's business.

And welcome aboard!

A guy I used to work with carried a picture of his son around in his wallet. He had just come home from duck hunting (early 80's era) and was in rubber boots, camo poncho, muddy etc... Had his shotgun across his shoulder and was holding his diaper-clad 1 year old upside down by the feet.  Very funny....

Welcome  Aboard Smiles977

Guys be good to her she is the shit and a great shot and can handle all of our wonderful firearms
especially her G23 (commandeered it from me ) and the 1911
Here is the badass pic of our youngest Son with the 1943 Springfield M1 Garand
The friend that emailed is dating an elementary school teacher (says enought there) and is a socialite
and figured I would get comments like this from her. She should see how the 3 older kids handle the firearms.
A few here have shot with me and my kids and they are have commented on my kids being very competent with safety and proper fundamentals for shooting.

Thanks, I think it is one badass pic. He is our youngest for the time being and I am thinking
he will be the one to inherit the Garand when Im dead and gone.....not sure though.
My oldest son seemed the most excited about getting the Garand, so he may.
