Ok I am thinking of applying for colorado springs fire dept. I just have a few questions as I am kind of just cherry picking jobs places I would like to be since I am already a fire fighter it isnt that pressing like i need a job now and I saw co springs was testing. So my questions are is the cost of living pretty high in the springs? Does colorado allow SBR or sound supressors, and are there a lot of places to shoot out in that area? Thanks for your input in advance as I am torn between washington state and colorado but would love to live in either place.

Cant speak for the cost of living, but all class 3 toys are legal here.  There are a fair # of places to shoot in and around the springs area.

Lots of places to shoot within an hour of the Springs.

And the Sheriff here is very NFA friendly.

The cost of living here is somewhat high, but not crazy.

Coming from IA you will find Colorado Springs expensive.  Coming from CA, CO is cheap.  Figure accordingly....

Also, in WA state, while legal to own a suppressor, you can not legally attach to your firearm. In CO, we have no such nonsense.

However, getting a job in fire dept in Colo Springs I think would be tremendously difficult right now. Budgets are in deep trouble...

I received and email from there HR person and she said they are hiring 21 I guess but i need to inquire and make sure these are permanent positions and not ones that are being filled from grant money. So hopefully they are permanent positions and i will be coming out from the 5th-9th.

Check that link out, enter in what you make in Cedar Falls, and it will tell you what you have to make here to live comparable.  From what I ran, its about a wash between the two.  From Oklahoma, I found housing to be the biggest difference in expense, and not a huge different at that when renting.  Iowa from what I remember, as most northern states, its a little more expensive up there, especially the increased car repairs due to the salt they use, extreme cold weather and winters they see(utilities), etc.
