Anyone happen to have taken a class with these guys?
http://www.tallguns.com/tall%20guns_012.htm Money's a little tight, so the price (~$70) is appealing. I'm pretty proficient with my handgun from a technical perspective, so I think I'd just need a legalities rundown. Any other suggestions for inexpensive courses? |

Go shoot a IDPA match.
Between the safety check and shooting the course, you just received your qualifications for CCW requirements (read around $35 plus ammo). http://www.coloradoshooting.org/FRIDPA/FRIDPA_MatchSchedule.htm |

LLama...Not-
I took their course last month. For the past couple of years I have been competing in defensive/IDPA shooting at my gun club ( recently I have not gone due to the cost and availability of ammo). I realize that I can get a letter from the club, stating that I am eligible for safety/gun handling skills and that they can write a letter to my local Sherriffs Dept. fo confirm that for a CCW permit. My DD214 is over 30 years old. The Tallguns class was good. I was more concerned about legal stuff as opposed to the basic stuff about the differences between center-fire and rim-fire ammo and the difference between a relvolver and a pistol. I am sure it was helpful to the elderly and young people attending that did not know basic gun stuff.... And WOW to the Hottie with the bazookas sitting behind me.... Please never conceal those!!! The lectures were very informative without too many "War stories" The lectures followed the exam. There were some questions that had me think about semantics... " Should one clean their ammo?" Me, I wipe it down to get dust off...Not run it through the dishwasher Good intel on where one can carry and where one cannot...the case of a life saving shooting... Funny video of a fella in Las Vegas hassleing innocents... What to say when calling 911... They have a cool computer/laser thing where you shoot a Baretta 92 at a target to see your shooting skills.... had 2" groups at 20 feet.... gotta get me a Baretta.... I highly recommend them, quick, down and dirty... I need to save my tips to get the $150.00 for Sherriff Aldern and the CBI.... It was fun and they supplied coffee. Gentile |
