| Ill be trvelling through Colorado what are the laws ref carrying gun in vehicle and on person.I have a CCw from Az |
|
To clarify, CO recognizes AZ licenses held by AZ residents. The state stopped recognizing any non-resident CCW licenses a year or so ago. Rifles and shotguns don't need to be cased and can have loaded magazines, but must have empty chambers when carried in vehicles. No license required for CCW inside your own private vehicle. No state-level restriction on open carry. Cities have some power to restrict it. No AWB outside of the Denver city limits. It's illegal to possess a weapon while under the influence, but no restriction on carrying in bars as long as you're not drinking. "Make My Day" (our version of "Castle Doctrine") doesn't apply outside of a dwelling, but we've got a pretty good general self-defense law apart from MMD. Mods: as many visitors as we get, should we maybe have a stickied thread about this? |
Does this include non-residents, as I travel to Colorado (Summit Co.) quite often. I don't think the town of Breckenridge (where we stay) allows open carry, but I could be wrong. Looking for a place of our own in Summit Co. now, as I will be retiring in the next 2-7 years. |
Breckenridge, Denver, and Vail(I believe) are the only municipalities that do not allow open carry.

Trinidad is the sex change captiol of the US. Is there something you'd like to share?

I'll keep that in mind. Seeing land out for $1k an Acre. Maybe that's why it's so cheap? |
| i am only 20 minutes from greeley and about 30 to windsor, 35-40 from loveland and fort collins. and land here is 1000 an acre. obviously it can be more and it can be less. we bought our home a year and a half ago. it cost 124,000 for 80 acres, 4 bedroom, 2 bath modular. it is 2400 sqft. i know it isnt as nice maybe as some of you yupps in town. but it is nice. plenty of room to shoot and live. plus not too bad of a commute to alot of different jobs. plus the commute is actual driving, not stop and going. the commute is actually shorter if you do the speed limit or higher. it pays for me to drive a little slower. just another area to think about. |
Less money is always better! Are there some towns up there I should look at? |
| not knowing what you do for a living, its hard to say where to live. but, between fort collins, greeley, loveland, and windsor, i am sure there is about any job you could want. i dont advocate living in town. but living outside of these towns isnt bad. eaton, kersey, ault, wellington, pierce, gill, briggsdale. some arent really towns(gill) but if you search for property under those headings. there are still some decent land for sale at decent prices. my neighbor (still half mile away) bought his land last year for just under 1000 an acre. he is a retired cop and built a nice house. the house would sell for 4-5 hundred thousand in town but with his land and view it is priceless. but he spent much less. there is alot of recreation up nothern colorado way. lots of lakes within in a few minutes of loveland, windsor, fort collins. pawnee national grasslands has antelope and other hunting. as well as places for long range shooting. |

I'm kinda dreaming alittle right now. Maybe looking to open a gun shop in a town plus have land with a house. Have applied for some Iraq contractor jobs. Would be nice to do a 1 to 2 years come back and open my own business. Currently in purchasing for a Fortune 500 company. Really looking to do maybe a couple more years and be done. |
