Since my move six month ago to CO from PRK I've acquired 8 long guns and 2 pistols. Have I gone on a buying spree? Is that too much? (Ammo purchased and shot excluded).

I love CO!

A boy has to make up for lost time, right?

When I first got my curio FFL, I was buying rifles 8 at a time.

At one time, I had a theory that you should have a gun for every year you are old.

I have since modified that to a long gun and a hand gun for every year.

Sure makes growing older easier to take.

No man should have that many guns in one place. What's wrong with you? That said, being the kind, and helpful fellow in which I am, I will allow you to bring a few over to me and I will see that they have a good home.

I am thinking about trading in a lot of my guns for a NFA too.

Yeah, seems like having more ammo and a few trusty rifles is a bit more viable option. On the other hand, weapons are a good investment also.

might be well worth it if you look at the price increase over the years of your C&R vs. say a M-16 bought only 7 or so years ago.  who knows what it will be worth in 5-10 more.  I bet a lot larger profit margin than hanging onto some super old rifles, thats for sure.

at one time yes, and for sure after the 08 elections. however with the price of ammo climbing and no relief in sight, the market is soft on military style SEMI-AUTO guns.
look in the EE to see how many $800-1200 ar's have had "PRICE REDUCED" edited on their BTT post. of course nows the time to buy.

very true, even look at the CMMG deal for so called bargin bin rifles that most members find to be in pretty much perfect shape.  they run something like $575 shipped.

Or you can build a del-ton kit for easily the same if not cheaper and get some good enjoyment and good experience building a rifle.

I just wish i had enough extra money to build a couple of the kits.

I would go with the weapons.  With the ammo prices right now...you can pretty much have a entry level AR for the price of 1500 rounds of decent quality ammo.

I am starting to stockpile as much .22 as I can since it is only .02/round.  I figure if worse comes to worst, I can shoot 15 rounds of .22 for the same price 1 round of .223 costs me.  I know high quality shots are key, but there is nothing like a ton of lead flying in the air for some cover.
