Well, what can some of you guys that either live there or been tell me about it? I'm coming back out to Colorado in January for two weeks to finalize my decision on my place to live, and Grand Junction has been in my mind next to Fort Collins. Stuff like weather, politics, people, recreation, etc. Thanks. John |

Grand Junction is a nice area. Weather is mild, but you'll get 100's in the summer. From my impression, the area is pretty conservative and fairly religious. Lots of dirt biking, some radio control guys, rockhounding, rafting etc. I know of one range that is regulated to 200 but has targets of opportunity further out. SRM |
I've been using www.epodunk.com for demographics information. I'm kinda torn between Ft. Collins area and Grand Junction-from what I've read. GJ in the last elections, and a 2-1 voter results in favor of Bush, where as Ft. Collins was pretty much 1-1 Bush/Kerry. I just dont want to move to a place and have it turn out like this place, Long Island, NY. Believe it or not, this place was rather pleasant to live about 10-15 years ago. I'll be out in GJin the early part of Jan, and then will make my final decision on where to move to. Anyone else, please feel free to chime in!!! |

I prefer Ft. Collins, went to school here and never left. I like GJ too but just too hot in the summer for me. Fort Collins is pretty pro-gun, a few years back a new sherriff was elected almost solely on the issue of CCW. This was before the current CCW laws. He took the stance that if elected he would issue a CCW to any law abiding citizen that wanted one, the previuos wouldn't even issue ones to people who had justifiable reasons. |

I know GJ has some good riding areas. If you head south west you can get up on Uncompagre Butte, and the divide roads that connect Delta/GJ/Montrose to Nucla and Naturita. Lots of good trails and loops to make. I've never been, but hear a lot of GJ residents go on the Grand Mesa... But Im not sure how that works out. Pretty good I would imagine, when I bought my 06 Arctic Cat Crossfire the dealer had put on some pretty good mileage out test riding their demo Crossfire and their M7's. What's your current sled set up? ( I just got back from a trip out, so of course Im in the SledHead mood )
