Greetings all,
Several years ago, wife's sister retired in Kennewick.  We will be retiring in a few years and one of the possible retirement areas is Kennewick (or Richland).
Looking to gain some insight from locals as to what the area is like.  Not looking at the West side of the state (sister lives in Sequim) as it is a bit to damp for an Arizona desert rat.
Shooting is a hobby, used to do IDPA but it got a bit out of control.  Compete in some local Run what ever you brought matches, and like to partake in 3-gun every once in awhile.
The internet can only give you so much info and some of it is one sided which is why I make these types of inquiries.
Seems to be a few LGS's in area but did not find much in the way of places to shoot.

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Tri Cities here.
Great place to live.
Less rain than Phoenix, great desert weather to boot.
Plenty of local gun stores and ranges.
Best gun store is Talos Tactical.
Many more and plenty of places to shoot.
We can have DD, AOW, SBR, Suppressor.
It is a great area to live, plus 3 rivers.
I'm from the East Coast and will be retiring here.

Plenty of space to camp, hunt and fish.  Close to wilderness areas. The wind she can blow there.  Lots of good produce in the summer and some decent wineries. I love Walla Walla.

The closest IDPA that I know of is down in La Grande.  There are local USPSA matches and 3gun.

I scouted real estate when offered a job there in 2011. Ended up not moving.
Kennewick was more contemporary with housing developments and commercial areas. Some parts had free municipal water for landscaping, so lots of green lawns and gardens.
Richland was more old school/original from the early Hanford reservation days and Pasco seemed to have a more rural feel and diverse population.
I liked the lay of the land and would have had to buy a boat for recreation on the river.
All in all, I would have enjoyed the move but didn't take the job for personal reasons.

Great area but walla walla is better. An hour drive from kpr, less crime, closer mountains.

Shame on Wombat for not actually giving the link for the largest local range www.tcsa.info, especially since he is a member...
