| Looking to spend a week in the Seattle area in June, can anybody tell me about the area of the City of Everett? My teenage son will be with me so safety is my top concern. Thanks for any help. |

Are you looking to explore while you are here, or are you looking for entertainment? There's really nothing in the city of Everett that's worth checking out. Then again i've lived here for 28 years so i may look at it differently. Wrong. Plenty to do. Just gotta look for it |

| I had planned on visiting the area with my son because he has never been to the Pacific Northwest. We put our trip together without knowing about the U.S. Open of golf being there so hotels from the Seattle area south are either booked solid or just crazy expensive. We are going to be typical tourists, on the go to see downtown Seattle, a Mariners game, a day up to Vancouver and whatever else comes to mind. Im not so much worried about local attractions as I have no problems traveling to find stuff, my main concern is staying in an area where myself and more importantly my 17 year old son dont have to worry about getting shot at if we go to the local restaurant. Thanks for all the info, the Future of Flight sonds very much like something we will want to go see. |

Relax, you will be in the PNW, the worst you will get is weird quiet passive aggressive people walking by looking at the ground pretending you are not there....... People up here are polite, but not friendly like in the south. |

Fyi pa carry permit is not valid in wa, but you can open carry (except in vehicles and 21+ only areas (bar)). Both those exceptions are dumb but it is what it is. Your chances of getting shot are super low, WA is not a place where violent crime is rampant, even in the major cities.
edit: to be clear about the vehicle thing, without a permit you have to unload (empty chamber, no loaded mag inserted) and place in a container) Once you're at destination you can load up and holster. |

Everett is safe and mild compared to the bulk of United States I've seen. Everett is pretty spread out, but there are some interesting things in the immediate area. There are also day trips like you have mentioned in the area to see lots of interesting things. There are some fair restaurants in Everett too if you look for them. Everett Waterfront (Anthony's) Mukilteo Waterfront Edmonds Waterfront (Ferry to peninsula is nice) Museum of Flight Paul Allen's Heritage Museum Boeing Museum of Flight (Seattle) Snoqualmie Falls (East of Seattle) Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum (Near Space Needle). Seattle Center can be shady after dark but is nice during the day. Olympic Peninsula Rain Forest (ferry ride to peninsula) MOHAI (Seattle) Pike Place Market and Seattle Waterfront (don't do it late at night imho) The Ferris Wheel on the Waterfront Seattle Ferry Safeco Field Seattle Aquarium LeMay Auto Museum in Tacoma (fantastic if you get the chance) LeMay Family Museum in Spanaway (one of the largest private auto collections in the world.....hidden gem) |

Downtown/central Everett is relatively safe. Like other posters said, stay away from Casino road in the south end and the projects in the north east area.
I work outside in the downtown area and don't feel like there are too many dangers to worry about. And you can catch a train from the Everett station to downtown Seattle if you felt so inclined. |

There is a coffeshop in the library run by a liberal so liberal she makes other liberals cringe anything east of broadway and broadway itself is bad, and even east end of Hewit by comcast arena is a bit greasy. not sure what you can do with a teenager there, there is a great bbq place called New Mexicans and some great mexican ( el pariso) on colby. Kates on Colby North has great bfast and service The silve cup coffee on Colby has great coffee and some er um nice things to look at
From downtown you can access the marina and always head north on I -5 or east on HWY 2 into the cascades Traffic is not as jacked up as Seattle and people while greasy, cranky and are more real than in Seattle. Drive the chaukanut hw 11 if you get a chance as well Again avoid the library....My gf recently looked up the sex offender registery and found several familiar faces from the library.....something to think about |

I drive through the Broadway area a few times a week, and so far I'm filling out my seven meth dwarves bingo card nicely.
This week alone I spotted Skeevy, skanky, sketchy, hinkey, and weird. Seriously, if nobody mentioned it there's a Cabela's just up I-5 in Marysville. If you're up for a bit of a drive, the North Cascades Highway is really pretty and should be open by June. Downtown Mt Vernon looks pretty cool. |

Broadway is a greasy gauntlet of cultural achievment... You will find more stellar humans at the library, no joke, true story, can ID most of them from the sex offender registry....the worst is the moonbat liberal who owns the coffee shop It gets weirder around the 1st and 15 th of the month |
