What is the best, easiest, fastest county in North Eastern Oregon for current Washington CPL holder to get his paperwork submitted and approved.
Oh and I heard/read somewhere that a DD214 could be used instead of an Oregon state approved handgun class, is this true? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. |

Umatilla County. You will need a letter why you need a CPL for Oregon is what I was told.

I got mine when Sheriff Palmer came up to the WAC show from Grant co. I would call and talk to them. I had taken the training class for my Utah CPL and they took that for the Oregon training requirment.

For Umatilla county what kind of wait time should I expect? What is a good answer for the "why do you need a permit" question? I can think of a few but what has met with the least resistance/additional questioning? For people who have gone the online course or the DD214 route, did this go smoothly or was it frowned upon? Again thanks for taking the time to reply. I took an online course, and the folks at the Multnomah sheriff's office didn't seem to mind one bit. My answer for the big question was that I frequently traveled to Oregon due to my proximity to the border (right across the Columbia River from Oregon) for business and recreation. I was also licensed in WA at the time, and I mentioned that in the letter as well (there may be no reciprocation, but I assume it'd be a plus in any sheriff's book for him to know that). |

Believe it or not I trust some of the guys on arfcom more than info over the phone from a receptionist in a Sheriffs office. |

Also been told by multiple WASP that the best way to get out of a ticket is to have guns and inform them when pulled over.
