A friend is looking into having a 1911 customized as a gift. He would like the recipient's name engraved on the slide, and an organization logo engraved on the opposite side of the slide and/or into the grips. Does anyone have any recommendations, local or otherwise, for people who do this kind of work? What kind of cost should be expected?

does he want it actually engraved?  or acid etched or pantographed?

Any process that gets the name and a clear facsimile of the logo would probably do. I think he mainly wants it to be someone local, so he doesn't have to ship the firearm, and so he can see some work samples ahead of time.

my info is a little dated but I had good luck with a trophy shop and a couple of projects. Where's local?

Local to him = within an hour of Seattle or Bellevue.

Like this? If you can find out the format of the logo I can help.

Is that a sample of your work?
I'm looking to find someone to engrave a piece of 303 series stainless steel flat bar.  3/8x2x14. Nothing fancy. With 2 dates on it -1878 and 1938 -to repair a fubared gravestone. Any ideas/tips? TIA

I recommend John Brace.  He goes by Braceman on this sight.  His work is top notch.  He is located in Michigan.
