Anyone have or know of possible noc-side work in the PNW region?
I live in N. Snohomish Co. & I've worked nights for a decade & am used to that schedule/life. |

Being a resident of S. King county I doubt any leads I would have would help. But it would help to list your skills when posting a work wanted ad. Currently 10 units out form completing a BS in computer science, but a lack of funds is preventing me from finishing. Plus, those remaining units require some kind of internship related to software dev. I may have a job lined up to get this requirement done, but it's far from a sure thing at the moment. Quoted:
what kind of work? Ton of machine shops hiring night shifters up there right now. I did a short stint in a local machine shop setting up stock on the CAD & doing IPC/QC, but I have nothing in the way of certs or whatnot for having done it. I'm currently just working in the auto parts biz. From what I've gathered talking with local machine shop customers, it's about knowing the right people & getting a foot in the door, then working your way up the food chain. Doesn't seem that there's much in the way of formal school/training to get a jump start. |
| Well I work for a company that is growing pretty darn fast. They do have both a machine shop and an IT dept too, so you could mention both. As for training, just go to most any community college has a machine tech program, it ussually takes about two years. So it seems you're at a crossroads. If I were you, I'd apply at a place for the skills you already have. FYI my employers name is Omax corp. In the Kent valley. You can say I referred you. Its honestly the best job I have had so far. I have been here just under 5 years now. My name, if you choose to apply, is Tom Liemohn and I am a machinist on the night shift. |
