well, the army has told me to pack up and move on. Even though i own my home here, and i tried 15 different ways to get my orders modified or deleted so i could stay. i'd just like to say that i'm going to miss it. It was a honor and privelage to be included in the family like atmosphere of the home town guys here, this has probably been my best duty assignment in my carrer, thanks to yall. im headed to ft stewart ga, and im not looking forward to it, tboth me and the family love this area, and the folks that we have met here. i realize that i was never really a "hardcore" member of the inner circle, or for that manner a member of the alluded to gobc, but all the same yall had a positive impact in my life, turning this from another duty assignment, to a home. i'djust like to say thanks alot. we leave in november, and i hope the time drags until i have to pack up the cars and drive to the other coast. |

im headed to ft Stewart ga I was stationed there for three years! Savannah's a heck of a town, great beaches, historical landmarks (and of course Forrest Gumps park bench) and all the fun places in Florida are only a few hrs away. Being in the field there in the summer is gonna suck though. Hot and humid. Hinesville was a podunk town when I was there, prolly still is but there was some nice off base housing/apts to be found. Use to the main road from Hinesville through the Ft all the way to Pembroke and all other roads in and out were simply drive through, no gates or ID checks whatsoever. That's changed now but just imagine what it was like. What's your MOS? I was an 82C then (it's called 13S now), Field artillery surveyor. |
