Hello fella's, I'll be visiting Seattle next month to watch the M's play the Yanks. Any advise on where to eat, cool things to see, you know things regular tourists don't see or hear about. I look forward to seeing Seattle as I have never been up that way before, the farthest north I've been is Wyoming, and I've never been farther then LA up the coast. I'm a desert boy through and through. I'm used to rain every 6 months and dust clouds as big as the city. It'll be nice to see some green. I like to hike, site see, eat and drink beer while on vacation. Thank you in advance for the suggestions.

Head east on I-90 about 20 mins from downtown Seattle where the stadium is, and you can hike Mt. Si, Rattlesnake, Tiger Mtn, etc near Issaquah.  All afford some amazing views.

Food, head over to Alki Beach, nice beach walk and Spud's Fish and Chips is good.  Also a Duke's Chowder House on Alki which is good.  Want a good burger, find one of the Red Mill Burgers, amazing!  Bring cash, and don't use your cell phone while in line.

There are a million good food locations down town, mention what kind of food you like and we can suggest more.

If you are bringing the SO/Wife unit might want to catch a ferry ride at sunset from Bremerton to Seattle.  Its a really cool view of the Seattle skyline at that time of day.   Mike's Chili in Ballard is cool.  The Metropolitan Grill is a good steak(spendy though) but worth it. Anthony's Homeport for Seafood.  Im sure there will be lots more advice on this.

Honeslty I'm passed "The Met" for a long time now.  On the west side it's El Gaucho (Belltown), Capitol Grill (Downtown), or Jak's (West Seattle).  One the east side it's John Howie Steakhouse (Bellevue) or Jak's (Issaquah).  On the south side it's Melrose Grill(Renton). If you can't tell, I love a good steak!

If you head over to the east side visit Newcastle and eat at Yea's Wok.  That's the best asian wok/chinese place in the state hands down.

I like all kinds of eats. I'm a little shy of seafood as here in the desert we don't get a lot of fresh seafood. And yes the wife unit is gonna be with me. I plan on a least one fancy dinner. She loves a good steak as well. I will try all kinds of seafood though, the wife not so much. I love the suggestions for hiking and the boat ride. I haven't been a boat for a long time.

Royal Grinders and Paseo's in Ballard/ Freemont are close to the Downtown area, and will spoil you for the rest of your life on what good lunch food is.

Another thing is, when do you get into town, and when do you plan on departing, and where are you staying?  There's a LOT of stuff to do, and traffic has to be planned into what you want to do and when.

Good places to eat.

Expensive:

The Met (Premium Steakhouse)
El Gaucho (Premium Steakhouse)
Daniel's Broiler (Bellevue location has better view)

Medium:

Matt's in the Market (featured on food shows and articles all the time)
Elliot's Oyster House ("graduated" oyster happy hour.  Lowest price starts at 3 PM, increases every half hour)
Ipanema, (Brazillian grill.  As much premium meat as you can eat)
Brooklyn (Seafood/Steak)

Low Priced

Paseos (best cuban sandwiches in America, if it's a sunny day expected a 2 block line)
Take 5 Urban market (delicious local deli/sandwhich shop in Ballard)
Molly Moons (tasty gourmet ice cream)

I've found in my experience that Yelp.com is a huge help.  If it's got 4 or more stars, it's a must-go location!

Sweet, thank you guys. I'm gonna hit some of these places up. We're staying 5 nights, 6 days. Any local favorite dishes that I have to try? Do I need to buy a rain coat? I don't have one, never rains here. Sorry for all the questions, just excited to be going, I am excited to be near the sea. I have to get the paperwork out to see where we are staying, I'll do that tomorrow and post up. And again, thank you guys.

But Taco Bell was closed, and the girls was on my tip
They said, 'Go back the other way, we'll stop and eat at Dick's'
Dick's is the place where the crew hang out
The SWASS like to play, and the rich flaunt clout
Posse to the burger stand, so big we walk in two's
We're gettin' dirty looks, from those other sucka crews...

Thank you guys for all the suggestions. My trip is coming to end and I must return home tomorrow. You guys have a wonderful and beautiful state! Everyone I've ran across has been real nice. I've hit the pikes place market, did the underground tour, went on my 1st ferry ride, drove up to Port Angeles, hit La Push and Mora (and yes, we went to Forks). This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I can see why you guys live here.

I quoted this to my wife on the phone the last time I was up on Broadway and I swear, I could hear that woman's eyes rolling in her head through the phone.

Another +1 on Spud's on Alki.  West Seattle is the neighbohood of my youth, but honestly, no-one has better fish & chips.

Downtown before the game, check out the Pike Pub & Brewery, or "Lecosho", a reastaraunt dedicated to all things pig.

Ya, it was beautiful weather while we were there. People were saying, looks like you guys brought the sun with you from New Mexico. So, I guess we took the sun home with us as well.
