I can show you what your scar will look like.  I had a laminectomy that turned into a diskectomy on the same disk.

The first thing I remember waking up after that surgury, was the nurse telling me she just gave me morphine and would I like more?

I did.

ETA: Good luck to you and a speedy recovery!

Don't drink alchohol with tylenol.

If the idiots won't give you pain meds without acetaminophen in them and you want to drink, Google ' Acetaminophen cold water extraction method".

Good luck, rest up, get better.

With my warped sense of humor, I think it would be hilarious if the doctor walked into the OR just before you drift off to la-la land wearing a surgical gown with this on it...

Hope all goes well for you!

Thanks Fuxors.....Apparently I was wheeled into post-op around 2....The firstthing I can recall is several nurses upset with someone and the clock reading 430.
Here's what I have learned.
I am on Dilaudid. Yes....Morphine.
Nurses are a pissy bunch and DO NOT like being corrected. Or teased.
Cajoled is also out of the quuiestion.

Dilaudid via IV is awesome, the pills suck ass though.

When I broke my leg I told them I was allergic to morphine so I got dilaudid instead. 2 hour doses were lasting 20 min. I have a reaaaaaly weird reaction to pain meds, my pain tolerance is so high that by the time I feel pain I have to take a LOT of pain killers to have any effect.

Dilaudid is a stronger med than morphine, though they are in the same family and very close.  Same family as oxycodone.  I've personal experience with them.  Morphine does little to me at normal doses but make me a little tired and a little loopy.  Jack shit for pain.  Dilaudid did help my pain after my last surgery tho, especially with the Torodol.

If the Dilaudid isn't enough for the pain ask your doc about Torodol.  It's an NSAID (some people  compare it to very strong Motrin, though that's not quite correct) so you can safely take both usually.

T/M.....Unicorn, I thought it was pretty close, just closer to opium?

The Mrs is spending the night, against her initial thoughts...the weather is dumping pretty good son she's stuck. Glad she brought her knitting.

For an added bonus, I *Theoretically* smoked my last Camel @ midnight on Weds......We'll see how THAT goes.

Fun times Motherfuxors....fun times.

Fuck my spelling punctuation....whatever. between drugs and  this keyboard......welll......fuggit.

What is the point of the push your own buitton painkillers? If theuyy REALLY meant for me to take thhje edge off...they wouyld NOT have made all the snotty comments about my flask of Turkey.

They also could have been more more understanding about the cigar...It was unlit until they went and made a big friggin' deal about it.  Buncha fuggin limpwristed pansies.

Good luck with that!...

I had my last smoke on March 3rd, and there have been some tuff days, but all in all worth it!

Im so fucking tired of hospitals, and still have to put up with more over the next month, I could about puke everytime I pass one. Give those nurses hell!.. I at least have had to deal with good ones.

I'd say Matt's one tough SOB. After my surgery I was a zombie for a week. The self-administered morphine is great though –– no waiting for the nurse to come give you a new dose.

Is good drugs Charlie.......and a high tolerance for both pain and drugs.

The word from the doc, via Mrs45, was that bloodloss was 1/3 of a cup, damage was less than expected. Expected to be released late morn tomorrow, after I get some FTF time with him.

Since I am .mil, he's going with 30 days post-op convalescant leave (non-chargable paid time off)  (Not bad for no fucking union.)

As I write this I do recall seeing the Doc...Postuop recovery................I *think*

I was a bit fuckered up on happy meds as I had mentioned to the gas passer that I was...."agitated" the last time I came out fron Gen anestheshia. Something about needing to get home, and where THE  FUCK IS MY RIFLE?? (I'd lay even money that the chart has the word "combative" written on it someplace.)

this time I *think* it was something about snowplowing, a sixpack and needing to take home some percoset. And a 1911.
IIRC......At least this Doc had a sense of humor.
