Heading to Conconully this week. Hoping to go high above Loomis and look for some Mulies.
Where are you people going |
|
Great area, shot my first deer up on the ridge top above the valley. Big mule deer spike. Also seen some huge whitetails down in the valley around the swampy areas. I'm hoping to get over to the Colfax area if it works out, if not down around Orting.
Good luck to all! |

No deer hunting for me. I hunt predators, not prey. You deer hunters are pussies. ![]() Unless you eat them you're still a gatherer.
If I gather and don't eat what I gather, does that make me a hunter? Only by your logic. I didn't see nowheres in the game regulations saying I have to eat what I kill. That's why it's called "sporting".
But what big game I kill does get et. It don't go to waste. |

Yes I am as the thread clearly says. No, it doesn't clearly say you were going to the same place as last year. I can barely keep track of where I hunt, let alone keep track of your exploits. If I knew or remembered you hunted at Concunelly last year I wouldn't have asked. Don't make me go all BusySquirrel on your ass. Quoted:

Already started my hunting, but now I get to take a break while the boys get ready for their deer season, and I play "guide". Taking a true operator (ranger who's been there, done that, forgotten how many he's killed) out for his first deer hunt. Should be a good couple of weeks in the wood manning the shotgun for grouse. In the mean time I've been gathering my potatoes, kol rabi, green beens, and onions and have been eating up what meager vegies I grew. |

My dad has got an antelope tag down in Oregon. Going to hang out with him for a couple days. Last antelope season for him lasted about 35 minutes before he got a nice buck. Strange, my son is a Oregon resident and has been applying for 4 years, no antelope tag for him. And your dad gets one two years in a row. Hmmm who does he know? |

No, it's been 4 years since his last tag. He got another tag 2 years before that though. This years tag is outside our normal Ochoco unit. Trying a little further north along the Columbia west of Pendleton. Evidently the average wait for the Ochoco unit is up to ~11 years now. |

How high is that fence? |

How high is that fence? a couple of feet I guess; but it doesn’t really matter; as it’s in a Feel Free to Hunt area. Just flipping you shit. We drove through an opening in the fence and across the field to pick up my dad's antelope on Saturday. |
| S.E. Alabama in late November. The bag limit is two deer per day either sex. Makes for a bit of a scary hunting climate knowing that a hunter can and sometimes will shoot at anything that moves in the heavy cover down there. Might go down to Florida for a day and Georgia for pigs too. |

Your deer is missing it's antlers and it's eyes look dusty like it's been roadkill for a while. T |

Since this thread needs some antlers in it. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/Qolat/utf-8BSU1HMDAzNjctMjAxMDA5MzAtMDAzMi5qcGc.jpg and the MS paint of the hunting plan, I ended up being about 1/3rd of the way to the left side of the blue arrow and the deer was about the point on the arrow. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/Qolat/Field.jpg So you were openly shooting at residential homes...Got it.... |

Your deer is missing it's antlers and it's eyes look dusty like it's been roadkill for a while. you assume to much … 1) it’s not my Deer, it was my hunting partners harvested Mule Deer. 2) it’s not missing any horns, as draw-tag Doe’s generally have an utter instead of horns. 3) it was just hauled across that open field for nearly 200yrds. with its eyes wide open, after taking a 100gn pill at 125yds. |
