| Does anyone know where I can go to find out the laws in our state about shooting at places other than shooting ranges. My Dad and I would like to go out in the boonies and have some fun shooting together. Is it legal to do this outside city limits in the country? I am in the Whatcom county area. Can you guys suggest some vague areas where it is safe to go out and shoot? I want to make sure that I am in complete observance of the law before I decide to go out and shoot recreationally. I am pretty new to all this so just doing my research and not wanting to find out the hard way. I appreciate the help. |

The County you want to shoot on can have some of their own regulations restricting where you can shoot. Probably best to call the sheriffs office during regular business hours to inquire about those.
The DNR has their regulations, too. If you can't quite understand those as they appear on their website or in the washington rcw's and wac's, you may want to call the office that covers where you want to go. Again, during normal business hours. If you can find some national forest land, you stand a better chance of being able to shoot without any unusual restrictions, but again, the ranger station or office for the area you want to go, during business hours. If you live in SW WA, and it isn't too inconvenient, there is a public range near Ash Lake just west of Stevenson. There is no one there to act a range officer out safety monitor, so you take carr of yourself and the others there to ensure safety while shooting, which has always worked well for me when I've been there. |

There's a couple of XXXX located off of XXXXXXX XXXX Road, near XXXXX and XXXX just off of XXX X in Whatcom County.
You can also shoot on XXXX land as long as you follow the rules which can be found on their website. The XXXX follows WA state and XXX rules. There are quite a few XXXX, XXX and XXXXXX XXXXX you can drive on to get to where you want to go.
