Well I'm finally home from 18 weeks of the front leaning rest and sleep deprivation. Overall it was hard, just annoying. Mass punishment sucks, being a leader sucks more. My company was a small fill with only 105 and graduating 84. I got robbed of honor grad by a female whose mom was a colonel, my drill sergeants told me on graduation that it should have been me. I went from an APFT phase II score of 174 to a Phase V score of 279 My 2 mile time was 12:34(3rd fastest in the company), just need to improve my pushups to get a 300. I beat the company’s high PT soldier (APFT score of 349) on the PECS course by 22 seconds, and he couldn't climb the rope in the competition and I got no penalties. Shot 50/50 on 9mm, but a female took top gun... I had one stray round; otherwise I would have won that. Only shot 34/40 with the M-4. High score in the company was 35/40. We were the first to try a new BRM program, which sucked. They had us shooting in really weird and uncomfortable ways. Then the day before qualification they changed everything. Missouri was hot as hell, and I sweated more than I ever have in my entire life. I've never been so happy in my entire life to be home and see my wife. I'm looking forward to the next LCR.

Welcome home, friend!

Sounds like you did an outstanding job, congrats!

Yes.............group punishment sucks..........ain't that a kick in the balls, when you ALL suffer for one or two idiots' mistakes?!?!

Them's the breaks though...........you now know exactly why they do that, eh..............

Again, congrats for makin' the cut, and relish every minute of bein' home!

Don't know ya but still proud of you; if we ever meet is on me. Love hearing stories of motivated young folk.

Just wait till you deploy. Albeit I felt much more comfortable in the dry  130+ heat of Iraq than the ball-sweatiness, shit hole of a Georgia summer in the 95-100 range.

Welcome home, everything is a breeze from here on out.  But don't for 1 minute think all that bullshit is behind you. More lies ahead in varying ways.

Good job, Enumclaw!

I am going on.. six years in the Army, two Iraq deployments and six close comrades killed in battle, worth every minute of it all.

Best advice I have is to remember when military life is sucking, the military is NOT out to screw you personally! I have seen way too many good soldiers fall from grace because they got it into their heads that the *insert service branch here* is out to ruin their lives. They get disgruntled and leave the service.

The "suck" is always temporary and your future is limitless. Enjoy your time!

PS: One more thing, if you get stationed in Europe, don't be a barracks rat!! Get out and explore!

Cool, making the system work for you is smart.  So what job did you get? Or did I  miss it somewhere.
