That's my hubby's new job! WOOT! Training at Sheppard for five weeks and then most likely Eglin. Lucky duck. Possible stateside bases where we could be stationed: 2 in South Carolina, Eglin in Florida, one near Las Vegas, one in Arizona and one in Utah. Overseas, apparently Alaska is considered overseas, Aviano in Italy, two in Korea, one in Japan, and *I think* one in Germany.

His flight graduated as Warrior. They had about 80% of everyone who was an honor grad for flight 469 and 470. They got awards for PT excellence, beast week, and I think one other thing that I don't remember. I think one other flight beat them at academic excellence.

I am so very proud of him!!!

ETA: Forgot to say it's crew chief for.........ready.............F-16 BABY!!!! WOO!!!

not special forces, security forces....base MPs.

I dunno, tater, with that list of bases, it sounds like he'll be goin overseas to me.

Overseas?  Yeah, but it's  the air force, so 60-120 day.  max.  Almost counts as a PCS move.

Just bustin' your chops.  Congrats on the academic excellence!  one of my older brothers was crew chief on C130's durring the later part of the Vietnam war.  Sad thing is it's probably the same aircraft.

Congrats and good luck!!

Meh....I won't mind overseas. The only ones I can't go are the two in Korea. They are *usually* pretty sensitive about guys with family, though. If he does have to go it'll only be for a few months, and I did it once, I can do it again.

Exactly.

Now, if you and the base weren't so close to the damn strip that would be a different story.

Crew chief, is that like head stewardess? "Coffee, tea, or a little piece of me?" I think he'll fit right in.

Nothing wrong with Edwards.
California high desert, wide open for shooting, 4-wheeling, camping, dirt-biking, Willow Springs Raceway is less than 10 miles away, head up 395 for world class skiing at Mammoth, head down 14 for a trip into LA and the beaches.
It is what you make of it.

Keep in mind that KA3B was in Antarctica for awhile.  Edwards AFB must be like New York City, comparatively speaking.
