Money Order, Paypal, Credit Card?  Does it sound too good to be true?  Is he a team member?  Is he a new member?

Money order.....10.5 pistol upper, bolt carrier, bolt and charging handle....waited 5 weeks to get it from Rock River...decided to do something else.  $450 plus shipping...sounds pretty good, price is close to what they want on their web site.  I'll try to check to see if he's a member!

He's out of Oregon, has 3 posts joined in February of this year and is not a team member.  The only way I would do a cash transaction with him is FTF.

Postal money order ....isnt the same as cash is it?.....I dont do this enough to know anything about it!

Essentially it is.  You buy the money order and send it to them, they go and cash it.  The only way I will send a money order to anyone is if they have good solid feedback.  In the end it's your money and your decision.

He could be a legit newb with a legit item to sell.  We all have to start somewhere.  But he made no offer of even doing a FTF locally.  That makes me suspicious.

This is going to suck!

If you really must do it, send the money order certified mail with return receipt.  Also make sure you keep your money order receipt in case anything goes wrong.

Personally I'd skip it. Not enough history to rely on, and that's way too much money to gamble with. A return receipt is nice, but that and a couple bucks with only get you a Starbucks. If he ends up ripping you off you're going to be in a big hassle.

Some times you just have to walk away.

My opinion/personal policy...Face to Face or no cash deal.
Money Orders are cash like Grab laid out.
Been there, been burned...got my money back thru a Yahoo auction and the guy sent to jail, but what a hassle.
BTW, fucking around with Postal Money Orders is not smart for the criminal...I believe it's a felony if they get caught, no matter what the value.

Walk away...another deal will come along.

Doesn't a local squirrel have something like that for sale?

ETA - Or where in OR is he?  We have Vantucky folks who could help or ORHTF friends as well.

It's done......I apologize for the listing of information, I really should have given it some thought....I didn't...It didn't occur to me but I completely understand.  I guess karma will set it straight depending on how it works out.  I did send the order requiring a signature!!  As was graciously pointed out.....it would be a federal offense!

wow, some how I posted my response to this thread in the WTS thread and now 1GR beat me to it. If I had to do it I'd see if an OR member would  be my proxy for a FTF transaction. Lots' of known good guys there.

This is how a  seller's good rep is built tho, good to see you going out on a limb on faith.

COD is the way to do it. UPS, FEDEX, USPS all do it.

That way neither party gets the goods if it's a bad deal.

(The seller could still have sent you a crowbar in a long package, but hey at least you'd get something heavy
)
